It's OK. My lance tells me that I'll be OK.
And yes, I did have someone check it out. My toothbrush council unanimously agreed that it's not weird for me to talk to my weapons.

Was having this discussion a week or so ago, and I was hoping that we would have to fight the npcs to prove ourselves worthy, I hope its true!
That would be really cool if we had to fight them. I would be down for that.
Honestly if it is anything like the other solo quested content I just hope it doesn't take very long, because that has all been very disappointing in FFXIV.
I also hope if the AF is the same, that it is not all better than whatever is dropped in the dungeons (I have little hope the AF itself will drop in the dungeons because of the whining that would elicit from people who "can't do groups"). We need itemization that makes sense, with goals worth building anticipation for, and content that involves more than killing some easy prey opponent in 2 seconds.
It would be really nice to have such content at some point before 2.0 if nothing else just to show that we (those of us who don't like "content" like the Cultist event) aren't completely invisible to the developers.
Although this is wishful thinking, it would be nice if you had to fight, say, the DRG boss as a DRG. Something where the let you play the job you're trying to unlock, with 'stock' or standard equipment, against a 'Maat-like' boss.
While they didn't say which NPCs we'll be fighting, they did say in the last Producer's Letter that NPC battles are included. It most likely will be the main NPCs in the quests, or some rival... either way, cool!
My lance is my mother lion; mess with me, and it'll rip out your spleen. >=D
^ Masa! :O
I wouldn't think that the initial quest to unlock the job is going to be hard at all. It may be if you're level 30 and doing it, but as a 50 I'm sure it will be a joke. I can only hope that the armor is not easy to obtain and some of the later quests aren't a push-over
