Would you raid if there was no ilvl?

people already struggle to break even mediocre dps for their job with an ilvl restriction enforced, i would probably cease pugging entirely if they removed the ilvl restriction; there're enough people who can't even clear in duty complete parties as it is.

Sure, every raider is an elitist... *rolls eyes*

However, there is a minimum skill level expected in raids, and getting blamed because you don't have that level while raiding is to be expected. But those are mere assumptions.

If I can find a competent static, I would still raid and try some speedkills/log runs. I would never touch the party finder again though.

Hummm Probably, the gear in the raid aren't that much required to actualy defeat the raid anyway.

I don't actualy enjoy raiding, I even consider just stop doing savage because whatever the prize or the stat of the gear I don't need it for anything else and I just don't like facing the same boss than normal mode but harder its lame to me and that final boss savage exculsive form isn't enough for me to endure being bored for weeks in the 3 other fights.

I enjoyed so much Bahamut coil, it was difficult sure but no "easy mode" to spoil the fight is what I call a challenge. + Omega is basicaly just chaining boss after boss, no actual raiding in a huge mysterious place that kick our asses. I'll stick to normal mode, I enjoy the discovery of totaly new fight and find difficulty for the sake of difficulty boring whatever the lame shiny "look at me I'm so good at this game" they offered at the end.

There are plenty of raiders who aren't like this. PF isnt the most patient place but it also doesn't have to be that bad. The less pugs you've got the better \o/

It would make no difference since skill is by far more important. Party Finder can enforce ilvl anyway. If you mean that ilvl would be removed from the game entirely, well it would still make no difference to me because unprepared players can make their way in even with the current system. Enforcing a higher ilvl doesn't guarantee anything. I don't raid for rewards, so those can be anything as well.

No, the ilvl requirement doesn't keep me from raiding.
It's more than I often don't feel like it because it's (physically) exhausting or I want to do something else, don't feel so well, don't have time.

Okay, a stupid example. Let's say I would want to do a raid or an extreme trial farm/learning/whatever party today. I would have to cook something in time or it would be too late because it takes time and I have to eat it too. I won't begin doing exhausting things in the game at like 21:00 because it could take like 2 hours or longer and I will be too tired by then. I also can only cook something in time if I don't have to go somewhere in the afternoon or have something else to do.
So, if I would have unlimited time, didn't have to eat, wouldn't get tired easily, wouldn't get migraine that often and so on, THEN I would raid more. No matter the ilvl or the rewards. ^^

This is a 2.0 argument that has survived over the years and its really not the matchmaking service or the party finder service that's causing problems anymore, it's players lieing. I've recently started doing Savage and Extreme stuff again and I have to say, DF Matchmaking PUGs are always going to be somewhat of a gamble for anyone with low patience (know thyself) BUT so long as you're not being false in your Party Finder description or Duty Finder preparedness there shouldn't be any issues with anyone who joins for clears, It's on us now. Most of those people who join will know exactly how hard the fight is going to be and anyone who's played this game for a year should know the amount of time it can take for players to catch on to mechanics. The DF weeding and PF matchmaking are really very good now so long as you dont lie about your own ability. I'm understanding of people who get upset about others who are not prepared for clear, these people are who get angry are almost always people who have put in the 5+ hours of learning already and when you join a group that claims to be ready at enrage and 4 people die in the first few mechanics it's clear people are just outright lying and that person is in for a lot more work than they bargained for. I'm not saying there is an excuse for being a dick i'm just saying there is usually a good reason for their anger. Ultimately this is a social game and that means interacting with people, people can be awesome but they can be just as awful, you roll the dice sometimes but the developers have come a long way in making this MUCH more reasonable. A good piece of advice: be conservative about your preparedness level and you'll never be disappointed with the party you get.

As for the primary concern of this thread, if you remove item level restrictions it will spell the doom of the current matchmaking. People will be unrestrained which means weeds will hurt que times by being that 1 DPS who isnt geared and then causes the group to fail, and after your party leaves the dungeon because they're incapable of clearing or the tank doesn't have time for it, I just hope you're not the other DPS who's been que'd up for 30+ minutes.

Alternatively I would welcome some kind of "challenge mode" where you enter with an even lower ilvl sync and are asked to defeat the same ex bosses or savage raids, such challenges could reward better with more/better loot. They could branch the dungeons and make them bigger instead of linear, giving us paths to reach certain pieces of gear, bosses that actually provide strain on time limits. There's a lot of things SE could do with the item level and system they have in place, they just need more players to want it but now i'm rambling. No no, don't remove the item level restrictions, that would be madness and there's quite enough of that already.

It was as I said, question out of curiosity. Me and my friend are burned out from grinding gear and we don't have as much time to play every day either. We did use to raid in HW and at the start of SB but we fell stopped and didn't bother to keep up with gear after 4.1 beyond being high enough ilvl to do expert roulette. We discussed about attempting to raid again but then the thought of having to grind the tomes and rng drops for gear on top of suffering through PF turned us away. So we wondered if keeping up with a gear ilvl wasn't a thing, would more people raid or do more practice runs?

As pointed, we have the duty finder horror stories so, I suppose that's pretty much how it would've been :D;

I think I should have worded my question better, when I said no ilvl restrictions, I meant as if gear progression wasn't a thing so raiding was always on skill alone. But I think the answer would have been the same. :p
