Spell Speed VS Spell Damage for Black Mage?

Your friend is quite possibly correct.
But really, if you aren't trying to clear Savage raids the day they are released it won't matter which you choose - and it won't matter much even if you are doing Savage.

At lower levels you deffo want to prioritize Spell Speed for obvious reasons, and finishing a spell cast just before you need to dodge is always a fun feeling.
Things change at 70 with the introduction of Foul which gives us a 30 seconds window we need to work with. You'll want enough spell speed to be able to fit in your entire Astral Fire phase within those 30 seconds, then have Foul up when you're in your Umbral Ice stage. Too much spell speed and you're back in Astral Fire without having fired your Foul. Remember that how fast you cast your spells is also how fast you run out of mana, is the basic guideline here.
I recently unmelded some spell speed just because it felt off for me. Put in some crit and DH instead.

I don't main BLM but I will tell you this. Imain RDM and, naturally, I prioritize Crit and Dir Hit. My BLM shares the same gear with the same stats minus the weapon (duh) and it just doesn't work. Sure, the constant crits and big numbers look good and all, but I'm barely able to fit 3 fire IVs before I have to use fire to refresh astral. Because of this, I only use BLM in dungeons so I can nuke stuff. I would never try to use my crappy geared BLM on a trial or savage, especially since you have to move around more often in those than in dungeons.

This guy is a scammer and a troll. He makes troll threads for attention. do not waste your time replying with sensible offers of advise.

I've been blessed with extremely generous people while playing this game, it would be an insult to their good will if I ever said "I have the persuasion skills."

To frame this as persuading out benevolence is scamming. You scam people, good people with good heart's, and are only giving Mateus a bad name.

As KaivaC stated, get some more experience first. I'm well ahead of you on an alt - level 63 BLM at this point - and I still don't feel anywhere near close enough to mastery for questions like these to be relevant. It's a little bit like asking for advice on Alphascape Savage before you've cleared Praetorium. It's a waste of everyone's time at best, and somewhat disrespectful at worst.

There is zero reason for anyone with a lvl 70 job to be doing this, you can buy crafting mats with mendacity and sell them on the MB for lots of gil, you are just taking advantage of other people’s kindness.
