In anything you're using IR Cyclone, it's probably dead in 10 seconds anyways.

Vampire no. Access to drain type spells and abilities, yes. Also a number of equipment types also exist to help counter the HP sacrifice abilities. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Blood_equipment

While these were not always dark knight exclusive, many of them were.
