Migration to PlayStation®4 Version Patch System

Less space needed is definitely a solid plus, and if it allows the game to run a bit more smoothly then all the better. Sadly I don't have PSPlus, so i can't take advantage of having the downloads run in rest mode, but I suppose as long as I remember to keep the PS4 on during patch maintenance it'll still work out.

Edit: I realized I originally mistyped "PSPlus" as "PSPro", so just know that I meant PSPlus.

I don't quite get the date? Can we re-download it before september 4th like from august 28th - september 3rd, or does it have to be re-downloaded exactly september 4th to avoid any mistakes or wasting time etc?

In all seriousness, most large games don't actually delta-patch, they just replace the entire game binaries. MMORPG's can't do this since it would result in replacing 300MB every patch cycle + up to 2GB per data file changed, even for trivial changes. Hence MMORPG's do a form of delta-patching. However this can result in the asset/package files growing enormously if they don't actually do a delta-delete at some point.

That's alright, automatic downloads work on all PS4 consoles, you don't need the Pro to take advantage of this particular functionality. Leave your console in rest mode on patch day and it should take care of it for you.

Auto download requires PS Plus which some people do not use to play FF14 though so there is that.

That's not a pro feature that's a ps plus feature.

Oh yeah there is that too, so manual downloads might be required but definitely if the player has PS Plus it's recommended to take advantage of doing it automatically when this change comes!

Will I need to delete the game and redownload it, or will I just have to download essentially a very big patch? Im a little confused. If I do have to download again, just downloading stormblood from my psn library will do it or do i have to download arr and hw as well. If I initiate the download on the 28th will i be ready to go on patch day. Sorry just a little confused on what to do exactly.

YAY. I'm getting my PS4 replacement on payday so this is good news :D I'll be able to play XIV again. T.T Buying a big bro pro instead of having a baby PS4.
