Lucky Bancho and NA raiding problems.

I see a lot of people saying "community community community" as the reason why JP clear rates are so much higher than ours, but honestly, there's another reason at play that a lot of people aren't talking about.

If you raid in an MMO, and you play in NA/EU, you've probably already been raiding for over a decade, and you likely raid in another MMO, an MMO that isn't anywhere even near remotely as popular in Japan as it is in those two regions. Simply put, the "best" raiders in NA/EU are raiding in WoW.

JP doesn't have this issue, where FFXIV is the dominant MMO over there. As such, the playerbase that hits that content does tend to be higher quality on average, even though the top 1% is exactly the same.

The large discrepancy can be attributed, at least to a fair extent, on a difference in mentality. NA/EU heavily favor FFlogs and an aggressive optimization mindset whereas JP doesn't. For example, the Ghost cheese in O5S is commonplace for NA, even in pugs. JP typically doesn't do that. You will also find a significantly greater deal of tolerance for bad players in JP. More than a few have commented regarding this on Reddit. JP will carry bad or inexperienced players through because they adopt a group mentality. If someone fails, the group fails. NA does not do this. If someone fails a mechanic or their DPS is low, they at fault and they have slowed you down. This difference also swings in the opposite direction. Because Japan, in general, highly values public perception. You will see far less players looking for a carry, or simply unwilling to acknowledge their own mistakes. One final factor is JP tends to view content as something they should do because it's supposed to be done. NA couldn't care less about content they have no interest in.

All in all, it's a group mindset against an individualistic one. If NA/EU adopted the former, you would have higher clear rates, however many of those players wouldn't be very good. Is that better? It depends on your perspective. Regardless, all SE could really do is make Savage more of a requirement for progression, but that brings in a host of new problems.

Note: The aforementioned are not absolutions, and plenty of cross over exists. JP putting less stock in FFlogs does not mean no JP group cares about parses, for example.

I stopped as a tank cause the crafted accessories are better than raid and I am a crafter. Second, I really can only do floors 1 and sometimes the second floor so I don't join groups as most of them want to go all the way and last, the 4.2 tier just seemed boring to me.

I'm not meaning nerfing or anything, but the game doesnt really give you much reason to raid at all. Like the weapons are useless since virtually all content is ilvlcapped, often incredibly low. The one good thing that Yoshi P said is to take breaks - but even that is a double-edged sword. I don't believe that anymore content needs to be nerfed. If players are going to raid, they will raid. It's all about motivation, in my mind, and what players want to achieve by raiding. I made this mistake once and I damn near quit FFXIV over it, but there's more to the game than raiding. Some players only want to raid, and that's fine - but the players who do that already have this goal in mind. There's not much one can do to incentivize more players to join raids aside from what's been done already. Same with being an omnicrafter - the tools and the rewards are there, but unless that's a goal that you really want to achieve, even the promise of bankrolling gil won't motivate you to put in the work to be an omnicrafter if you just aren't motivated to do it.

Insofar as player skill is concerned...well, that's just the stubbornness of some players in not wanting to improve. The last few weeks that I've been playing on a new main, I've seen some things in the DF that shock the hell out of me. Things like:

- DRKs who do multi-pulls without Grit
- BLMs who think that it's better to cast Ice spells for most of the dungeon
- RDMs who spam Scatter on single targets
- DRGs who never use Heavy Thrust
- BRDs that only play one song in the entire run
- WARs who don't use defensive cooldowns
- CNJs in post-ARR content who don't want to get their job stones

I see these on an almost daily basis in post-50 content. I haven't even unlocked the first HW dungeon on my main. Everything between Aurum Vale and Steps of Faith, I see this at least three times daily. Some players are simply too stubborn to accept advice of any kind. Why nerf content even more to continue enabling these bad habits? The game already teaches you the basics of what you are supposed to do. Getting through Aurum and Wanderer's alone already is pushing you with the skill set that you currently have - it's fairly difficult to carry somebody because of how punishing those dungeons are.

These are just my own personal thoughts on the matter, but the incentives are already there. I was told once that if you want to get good at raiding, you have to work at it - it doesn't just happen overnight. If some players don't want to put in the work, why should content continue to be neutered for them? The last time I raided, V7S was the wall in much the same fashion that V3S was a wall. I dunno how the Sigmascape raiding scene is right now, but I wouldn't want those fights to get nerfed. If players want to get better, it's on them - they will take the time out to look up guides from the Balance, study FFLOGs, reach out to other people, take the time to actually practice and learn their jobs, put that work to actual practice, etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about the clear rates posted by Lucky Bancho, though. From what I do understand, participation rates are higher than they've ever been, which means that NA still has a somewhat healthy raiding community. I think that the skill level needs to go up, but that's on players to be willing to listen, learn, and to teach properly. Again, these are just my personal thoughts on the matter. I hope this helped answer you a little bit.

I stopped raiding for one very simple reason: the attitude of the majority of raiders I've come across has been absolutely atrocious. I play the game to have fun, not treat it as a second career. Maybe I just have bad luck (which I'm sure most of the raiders will say, since no one actively wants to admit they're that bad), maybe the raiding community is just that pathetic, I don't know but I'm certainly not willing to spend more time finding out.

My time on JP servers was fairly short only about four months, what I noticed was overall the general player base was more welcoming to criticism and a because of that each group was willing to put up and push for clears even with sub-par players. Do not get me wrong they still had asshats and they would talk shit about players behind their back but while they were in the group more often then not everyone learned from their mistakes and people did not baby rage when they got called out for mistakes, they just learned from said mistakes. You still had people that got pissy, but overall I noticed it happened far less. Overall I did noticed they functioned on a basis that instead of kicking someone the group was more likely to disband since it was the groups fault they were unable to clear not the person. Though I was only on JP servers for four months so it is not a large sample size.

Personally I had better luck with people's attitudes when I went to a casual static. They seem to be a lot less toxic, at least in my experience.

One thing that stood out to me was when Zurvan was relevant. Here in NA/EU all we had was "skip soar or disband", with a single tank and 5 dps (most of the time unable to skip soar btw, but that's another matter entirely). Few reasons why this was done, largely in part due to laziness. Why learn the mechanic when you can skip/cheese it? All it ended up doing was causing drama and people to run around like idiots if they didn't skip, because players on our servers are completely incapable of adjusting on the fly.

Meanwhile over in JP, they were farming it in raid finder, which forces a 2/2/4 composition and doesn't guarantee a soar skip, they just shut up and did the mechanic, got the kill, happy days.

We're just lazy over here and want the path of least resistance, instant gratification, selfish, whatever you want to call it. That's why there's such a discrepancy in raid clears every tier.

I got my final bird (Zurvan's) when it was still relevant back then and this still annoys me. Never have I had such a miserable PF experience until Zurvan came along. I had to be strong-armed into helping FC members clear Zurvan because I hated it after all the "Skip Soar or Disband" stuff.
