Thank you very much for your reply, now i know at least where the problem lies.
You are correct on everything. Netherlands, UPC, Thomson TWG870 router, problems started recently.
I will call them again and check those websites out.
If the problem gets fixed for you let me know please.

I just called UPC and the dude told me to look for a CD that came with the router which lets me configure the router, like opening ports and stuff, but i doubt that will work >.<
It has NOTHING to do with forwarding ports. The problem is that they refuse to understand this is not a problem with just ONE game.
I have reports from people playing FFXI, FFXIV, WoW, LoL, BF. It happens on PC and PS3, all those people have in common is UPC, the Thomson router and the new firmware update. Yet UPC refuses to sort it out, since it is not their problem according to the helpdesk.
They were going to call me today since I made a complaint yesterday, but they didn't so far. So I am going to call them tomorrow again to see whats going on.
Did you try the trick with FFXI? It seems to work for me, still have some trouble sometimes, but its better at least.
I just called them again. They finally accepted the problem. They are sending a tech guy with a new router (CISCO) tomorrow.
They was that I also mentioned FTP problems. I am not really using FTP at the moment, but it seems like that is a problem they seems to accept. So I told them that I am having trouble staying online and/or connecting to online games and that I have trouble with getting timeout when I use FTP.
Just tell them you read that the problem is accepted by UPC and that is why you are calling again. Good luck.

I have called today them as well and the guy recognized the problem right away so i am getting a Cisco modem too.

You welcome! Hope this fixes our problems! They even called me a bit ago saying they are trying to find out what is going wrong, so I am tracing/pinging the servers and taking screenshots for them now so they can trace the problem :P
i also having the same problem....suddenly i cant log in to ffxiv...got stuck in version check and also aion free to play cant log in but weird starwars working
