Weird market board pattern...

It depends on the rarity of the item too. The newest skirt, Quaintrelle's Ruffled Skirt, for example was 9million gil at the cheapest. Is it worth it? Depends on if how much value one puts on the appearance of your character.

For glamour items it tends to be expensive at first. Then as the content gets done more then the price dips down. Then the prices will rise up again once and the content isn't done as much again.

Some of it is down to the weekly fashion report, some of it is down to the fact that a lot of the newer novelty gear requires items that are excessively difficult or expensive to obtain and this drives the price up.

it is designed in such a way that the gear for the leveling process is easier to craft / needs common materials to make, to keep the costs low and make it accessible for everyone.

the glamour gear on the other hand has no practical use, nobody needs it to play the game, so when they are harder to make and costs more nobody is at a disadvantage from a gameplay perspective. so the glamour gear ss the stuff where you need the rare materials to craft them. it is meant as an achievment and having something special.

Oh no this is deffo normal. Between fashion being a major part of peoples game play. Now with the Gold Saucers Fashion Report event on top of it. On top of that even players unwilling to look up where certain items come from. I know someone who made a killing in the last Fashion Report from selling a vendor bought item that can be bought in every major city for 3k gil, Then turned around and sold each one on the auction house at 40k gil a pop. They said they nearly instantly sold too.

Playing devils advocate a bit, but due to the games gear treadmill those practical items are often short lived and exist to be thrown away once a new item level hits. Fashion and housing decor though will always last forever.

OP start crafting and gathering at lvl 70 and you'll understand why mb prices are the way they are. The most expensive things are either a pain to craft because of how many crafting stages the materials need, or they require extremely rare materials that are near impossible to farm due to their tiny drop rate.

Easy, grafted gear isn't always your option. Some use dungeon, raid and savage gear. But cutesy girl glamours are in high demand by lolis which SE thinks is the only base of players in this game.
