Timer is likely there to get around loading times.

I got DC'd the other day just as the run started, and as soon as I reconnected I got the prompt and was able to rez both healers on my RDM. Vehemently against this functionality going away, though again, I wouldn't mind them adding a short invulnerability since you don't know what you're teleporting into. Won't help if you're afk, but if you're afk that much, you deserve a kick and won't be there to mind anyway.

because the character might be doing something
1) going to open a chest
2) reviving another character
3) reading some random text thing that exists in some areas

To give people a little bit of time in case they needed to do something else before being forced to teleport. Maybe get a nearby treasure chest, like in Sohm Al, which has 2 chests near the final boss), or to quickly change role actions or gear. It also serves as a bit of a ready check as if everyone moves in before the timer, that would imply everyone's ready.

Whereas you don't really seem to provide a reason as to why this is such an issue. We've listed several pros, and you've yet to provide a con to it (since death, as we've established, in itself doesn't count as a con as it has no real detriment to it, and in itself provides a benefit of being rezzable the moment you return).
You just keep with "why". Well, we've answered the why. Move on.

As far as dude said with the cutscene thing, that is all well and good. I'd rather that you not get forcibly moved into the arena with the option to teleport into it, and get rid of the time limit before being automatically moved in regardless.

Because then at least you're in the arena and can be revived when you return. Unless you intend to be AFK for the entire encounter I don't see why you'd be against being ported inside. And if you are going to be AFK the entire time I don't understand why this even matters to you so much.

Because I've run enough dungeons with someone deciding that they'll lolafk a fight they don't want to deal with that this means that they don't get to just sit it out; instead of being locked out oh darn, now they're free for the duration of the fight, we get to see them brought in, and if they don't take the rez, we KNOW they're afk/not contributing & not just 'locked out sorry guys I'd help if I could'.

I haven't experienced this feature but I don't love the idea of AFK people being ported in. It doesn't sound like there's any point to the timer, if you just have the prompt stay up then couldn't the AFK person just click it when they get back? And then they'd port in alive instead of being dead and had multiple people waste MP on trying to raise an AFK person already.

I don't think we need to encourage people to pull early and ignore everyone else in the run. It seems like the opposite of the ready check and countdown timer features that seem to get used less and less, now you can just go and don't have to worry if people are ready because they're coming anyway and then it's their fault if they die.

The problem presented by OP is that you're being teleported into an AOE. Between loading times and reaction times, you might just not have time to dodge even if you're actually there. Which is a point I will concede, hence why they should consider adding a short invul.

Yeah, just treat the teleport in as if you've been ressed via healer LB3 (meaning no weakness debuff applied), and add invulnerability frames UNLESS you start doing an action other than moving. Like you said, same as being ressed. That I think should be added, seen several people get caught out by the lack of invul frames and promptly get creamed upon entering the arena.

I don't think I've encountered AFK griefing. Though I've had to stay out of arenas due to griefers pulling in 24 mans, so this mechanic seems more likely to enable griefers based on my experience.

There's nothing SE can do about that sort of griefing unless they lock the boss until everyone's there, but they're not going to do that nor do I think they should (if 23 people don't want to wait on the 24th to finish cutscene, they have a right to, only now that 24th will be shot into the boss room and not miss the fight). If anything, we're now spared half the alliance being locked out because someone pulled while they were still in cutscene.
