QoL Change: Ex Trial Mounts

I have no idea how players can get 100s of totems in a couple of weeks, it's been 2 weeks since Tsukuyomi's Pain release and I don't have a dozen totems yet, all the parties I join end up being practice runs save the few ones that actually work for a single clear or two and then disband!...


I don't really mind waiting a couple of months for totems to become tradable for mounts as it's already hard enough to get them!...


Yeah, it sucks to see some players getting their mounts on the first clear ever but they just have an absurd amount of luck and I believe that happens because the RNG system is flawed, it should average the clears required for every single player in order to get the mount drop but it just doesn't, maybe the ones buying more from the Mog Station get luckier, whom knows!...

I’ve asked this question every patch this expansion so far. The only people that are all right with waiting to buy them with totems 2 patches later are people who have been blessed by RNG or are “casual” (read : sane) and don’t farm new extremes 99 times the first week. I killed Lakshmi and Susano 170+ times each before I won their mounts. 151 for Shinryu - I never won it, bought it from the vendor last week. 150 for Byakko - waiting for it to be put on the vendor.

I understand that feeling of bitterness when you see someone on a new mount knowing they’ve probably killed it less than you but those who quit because of their bitter feelings are only hurting themselves.

At least you guys can buy mounts with totems now. I didn't have a single horse until after the 3.0 expansion dropped and the rates were buffed through the roof. lord knows how many runs of those i did.

You also had to walk 10 miles to town uphill in a snowstorm? It doesn’t matter how things used to be, it matters how things are now and how things should change.

Its fine this way though, it keeps people doing them, and they can stop and wait for the patch if they are so inclined once they hit 99 totems.

I don't understand why this matters, I've never even had 99 totems even from the super easy to farm unsync ones. Farming that much sucks and isnt fun.

If the current model is supposed to keep us playing the content it has the opposite effect on me than is intended. I'm not motivated to run the content 99 times only so I can buy the mount next year when it's no longer new and other mounts have been released.

No? Susy and Laki being the first two trials of this expansion means before even reaching anywhere near the last trial, you would be able to purchase them with totem/buffed drop rate. Which is why after losing 12 dog rolls in 110 runs I decided to just purchase it after grinding it. 7 horse 7 birds not seeing any curve balls anytime soon so 7 dogs. I would happily hardcore grind the last two considering when you get the 7 you get a special mount.(Betting on Koryu).

Some people don't struggle or find any of this content hard which is why they are able to grind it. Humans are actually quite capable of having crazy skill sets.

SE should create a craftable item that increases RNG rate . This way crafters and gatherers can make some money while upping the drop rate .

Honestly, we are lucky we got totem turn ins in the first place. I’ve had bad luck with doggos this time around, I got Lakshmi’s at 87, Susano I had 99 saved up and I’ve been sitting on 99 for a long time with Byakko. The rng behind these is designed to keep you running these for as long as possible and they know people will be impatient and keep doing them even after the point of 99 totems. I hate the concept but they know the content will die off a lot sooner if they let all of us unlucky ones get their doggo right away when they hit those 99 runs.
