Please let us trade anemos crystals for lockboxes.

There’s also this thing called keeping content relevant. Why would anyone throw everything out before knowing whether or not they plan to add more to the lockboxes at a later time? Or give the anemos crystals another use, or even the feathers?

Sure there’s no guarantee, but I wouldn’t ever throw everything out knowing their track record for trying to keep content relevant, until 5.0.

Also to add to that, Anemos are most certainly zone dependant. Protean, however if you are to take what the tooltip says for face value, isn’t zone dependant. So throwing Anemos out is a huge waste if they plan to keep Protean relevant throughout Eurekas lifespan. Converting them is the smarter option.

It's not a good idea to keep the same currency, they will release the new content for Eureka and the players will already have completed everything whithout even doing the new content, because they have infinite stock of anemos. Just no and It will never happen.

Or it will be similar to how the 24-man raids were where to get the upgrade items you needed a combination of the old and new. Which in this case would be a LOT worse due to the massive amount of item bloat that will continue to happen.

Except, except, you’re forgetting the next tier of crystal to replace Anemos, and the next likely NM item drop needed for relic. It doesn’t matter if you have 1000000 Protean saved, you’ll need the rest.

If Protean are to end with Anemos, they’d have the same tooltip saying they are only found in Anemos. They wouldn’t be convertible to begin with. They wouldn’t have even existed imo. They don’t, they say they are a crystal in a constant state of elemental flux. Go figure, considering we get more elemental zones. I 100% consider them the tomestone equivalent of older relics. With the Anemos and pazuzu feathers being the umbrite, or Alexandrite, etc. They’d only drop from NM if they were zone dependant, like ANEMOS.

Also keep in mind when details on Eureka were announced, it was stated you’d need Protean to do your relic. Anemos crystals were NEVER mentioned. If you think Relic will be a constant 100-400-800 turn in, I have bad news for you lol. Saving protean would be, and is, the smart thing to do until the next tier is announced. Telling people to throw things out before you even know the new upgrades is reckless.

I have everything from the lockboxes I want: red mage barding (with 1 to spare), t-rex mount (with 4 to spare), all the minions (with spares), all the glam (with OODLES of spares) and I've made over 2 mil in gill off the materia in the past 2 weeks. I still have 1400 lockboxes to open though. I'm lacking in crystals despite hours on the train. I would love to be able to forfeit the "treasure" in the lockboxes for crystals!

I'd rather get rid of my lockboxes for crystals. I have 4 complete sets of armor and 6 relics. I already have everything I can possibly get from lockboxes and I hate having to open them one at a time. So they're just piling up in my inventory. Give us an option to trade them in for crystals would be nice!

Frankly making the items exclusive and then not giving us a way to cash them in for something was a bad design choice just as the abundance of fireworks, furnishings and glamour gear was. I would much rather them make lockboxes drop 1 at a time even at a 50% chance and then put something good in them instead of easily filling them up with worthless items and making us open them one by one when they should know we would get hundreds of them each trip. Glamour gear should also have a unique design instead of just a rehash of gear we can already acquire.

I swear its like they don't even play their own (or any) game...

Give single boxes a 50% drop rate per boss, take out the glamour gear, barding, furniture, etc and make them purchasable with proteans, remove the fireworks and potions completely and just have NM drops and tier 6 materia in the boxes, then make all NM drops exchangeable for anemos crystals. Boom problem solved.

Would give me a use for the 3x Strider boots and 3x Scorpion Harness I have...and help me finish my other sets(currently have 3 weapons, 9 feathers, and 2 full sets - RDM and DRK - with 1200 boxes, ~200 Protean, and ~300 Anemos)

Firstly that is "discard", if you wanna be a smart a at least try to get something as basic as your spelling correct.

Also, in case you are somehow serious, that is just making excuses for poor design. When so many people rush to defend poor design that is all we are going to get. If the devs do something that makes no sense, as they did here, its good when players call them out on it so they can improve and maybe think ahead in the future or change what needs changing in a patch.

I’d much rather lockboxes give crystals like how the Diadem lockboxes gave Spoils. Would give me more reason to open them now that I’ve gotten everything I wanted from them!
