In Final Fantasy V, you fight Carbuncle to unlock it as a summon. Though in the fight it has a more beastly form than the summon version.

Carbuncles can't exist on their own, they're summoned...and by summoned I mean summoners shape aether into their form. So OP is asking for an instance where we fight arcanists or summoners.

That might be cool actually.

Oh it's not just me who is sick of all the carbuncle themed stuff. I don't hate it but I'd like to see other monster goodies too.

I love the fact we have them as slippers cause now I don't have to rush to get the famous moogle shoes. I have huge slippers without the grind. and I can dye them.
