Sleep seems to work pretty well as a stun vs. special attacks. And BLM can technically slot Drain as well as Eureka (regen) potions. And the 60 minute buff you get from the elemental/fairy also makes things better.Quote:

One of the things that I like most about Eureka so far is that long-lost mechanics and abilities like sleep/stun/bind/silence seem to be useful again, and potions are actually useful as well.
Not to mention, since it's harder to outrun enemies, sleep + regen potion is your friend.
Being able to do some degree of crowd control with BLM is pretty exciting. For example dealing with extra pulls or pops by sleeping them. Pulling with sleep can also be useful.
I'd like to hear how other jobs fare solo in Eureka.

I do just fine on WHM. I can easily chain and kill pretty quickly. I can use Repose if social aggro brings more than I'm expecting which is the one thing I really like because I was an enchanter in EQ. And I can keep my heals up.
I just don't because the experience after level 3 is just pitiful. -

I've gotten some pretty long chains soloing on SMN. Titan can tank same level mobs just fine if you keep regen on him. I just pop one of the regen potions when I summon Bahamut to get me to the end of the fight with decent HP left, then just pull the next mob and let Titan go back to tanking. This got me to lvl 5, but the one party I did got Exp at a faster rate chaining mobs 2 levels above ours.

As a monk and with Eurekan potions I was able to solo things of my same level with all magicite in offence up to level 7 reasonably well, with close calls here and there if another mob jumped at me. I was also able to keep up a chain all the way to 30. However, once I calculated that at level 8 it would take me 5+ hours of sheer grinding (assuming I could kill things in 30s each and having factored in both the Fairy EXP buff as well as the full chain's bonus) I quickly abandoned solo play and instead jumped on the NM train, which so long as you're level 7+ I would recommend you do as it's safer (there'll always be healers around in the train) and in the event that you need to afk you can, god knows how many afks I've seen sit clustered together while we smash mobs. I've afk'd here and there for a few minutes to use the washroom and such without fear of death as well so joining the NM train while it's still alive and well is probably the best way to level for now.

Soloing is actually a lot better xp than running in poorly optimized groups. If you're party is only chaining mobs 1-3 levels higher than you then you should probably be soloing sadly. very frequently I would duo or trio because full party's never did +5 or +6. Which is needed for good experience.

I'm currently at 8, and I can solo chain 30 mobs the same level as my RDM. Buy stacks of the anemos potions and spam the things, they save you time that you can be using to damage the mob. The exp is pitiful, though. starts at 87 and goes up to 200ish. Considering you are 56k to level it, its very slow, and it can give you carpal tunnel, lol.
At around 10 or so, they start using high damaging attacks. Like the tiger mobs use an aoe fire that targets the dps, and needs to be stunned or it can one shot ppl 5 levels below. Or the bears with the endless cleave; you can coordinate stuns to delay it, but it does a lt of damage, and is a cleave. You need a good tank to really do well with it.Quote:
