Crafting the Ala Mhigan Set

Ala Mhigan gear isn't going to increase your CP cap much, they have basically the same CP cap as the previous tier, but with 1 extra CP per non-body pieces for a total of +4 more CP. If you're missing that much CP, you haven't melded your accessories fully. +1-3 CP lost per piece might not seem like much but when you're missing that much on every piece of gear, it adds up to a lot of lost CP. When melding, capping CP on the gear should be your number 1 priority. Yes, even when it only takes +2 CP. You may find out later when you have a solid rotation that you can shave off CP somewhere, and then you can remove, say, the +1 CP on the body and replace it with something more useful, but for now, CP CP CP.

I'm aware - it's been mentioned in previous posts.

The point I'm making is that, when doing research, most guides keep throwing up CP numbers that I simply won't reach. All above gear has reached a point where all that can be gained is 0-3 CP each, for what will amount to about +10'ish CP total, with base CP of 420 (aug) / 436 (norm/OM) for a potential max'ish of just slightly under 450 at best. A large number of guides I have seen refer to 450 base (great, I'm nearly there with the OM set I have), yet they recommend 475 (before food). Again, I re-did the melds to remove all the Con/CManship where I could fit extra CP in its stead, so I can tell I am never going to reach that amount.

There is every chance I've done something wrong or mis-read something somewhere - but for now it's just looking like something else.

EDIT: Just done a proper check. If I push the 4th/5th melds for all above mentioned +CP's, I'll gain +29 CP (+420/436) landing at 449 (A) vs 465 (O), 10 short of the 475, but I can safely assume this is for higher tier recipe's primarily crafted via Ala Mhigan gear.

Scratch the above - figured out a way to remedy it.

Question now becomes - what is really required (statistically) to reliably craft HQ Mhigan gear and the whole macro side of things. For now I'll just say thanks for the replies and that I'll have to go back to guide-checks. Will come back if anything crops up or if more tips will come in handy for X or Y.

Once you have the CP, it's just a matter of getting as much starting quality as you can to feel comfortable HQ'ing. You said you have NQ fibers, and you really want HQ fibers for these unless you know you have the stats to forego them. The fact is, the Ala Mhigan gear is the hardest stuff in the game to HQ right now by a large margin, even though it is not 3-star. No matter how high your stats are, it's going to be tough to HQ, even in Ala Mhigan gear itself. For low stats the Maker's Mark rotations are typically the best, even if they are extremely tedious to do.

You can definitely manage with Makers Mark (see my last post on how to modify it for your stats). I've done it myself with similar CP on my first pieces. Camie's Advanced guide has an indepth step by step on how to use a Makers Mark Rotation. Since Makers Mark requires far less stats, you should still aim to meld all the CP you can at the moment.

You can't macro craft HQ Ala Mhigan with your CP as far as I can see without some rng. Realistic minimum stats would be 1520 craftmanship, 1400 control, 461 CP.

1380 1318 is a reliable amount of control for manual crafting the special 2 star recipes from pure NQ mats provided you have sufficient CP. With you being a specialist, you can certainly add in Whistle While You Work (optional) into your rotation to further gain more CP. Otherwise, the Trick of Trades that you take during the stream of Flawless Syn during Maker's Mark should still give you sufficient CP. If you're using some HQ mats for a final product, you can sit on your current stats, and it's already quite reliable as long as you're manually using the Maker's Mark rotation.

Macro-crafting will require nearly max-melded gear set. The stronger the stats, the more reliable it is going to be. You can still macro craft with less stats, but you will resort to more RNG in your macro rotation.

I did some testing and you can craft your Ala Mhigan set in your current set up if you push your CP to 449 and you use a manual rotation, you will not be able to go from 0 to 100% and you will need a couple of HQ Mats but it is doable.

Here's a sample run of Caimie's Manual MaMa rotation(with your stats) using HQ Tempura Platter and HQ Cunning Craftman's Tea:

This is assuming you get 4 Tricks during the FS phase if you get more than that you could push more quality.
Check condition on the Innovation step, if Excellent use Miracle then Innovation, Strides, Brow and finish the synth, if not excellent just follow the rotation. Also if you have bad luck with FS you may want to replace those Hasty Touches II with Hasty Touch so you have the CP for a Careful Synthesis III at the end.

The rotation i used is on chapter 60 (It's amazing! I know because i used it myself to craft my Ala Mhigan gear)

As for Macro Crafting you won't be able to unless you have a fully melded Ala Mhigan set and even then you will still need a couple of HQ mats as these crafts are still difficult, actually harder than 3 stars if you ask me.

Nothing amazing. But at least it works nicely for a lot of people who don't have max stats. And it's a good starting rotation if someone is making these recipes for the first time since it's quite reliable. The rotation can be further refined, but even as it is right now it's quite sufficient. :)

It looks like the last two Prudent can swap places with two Hasties inside the first Ingen1. This will ensure that the touches under Ingen1 are 100% fidelity. With this concept, you can even swap another two prudent in the first phase into the Ingen1 phase. But if you use too many Hasties too early, it would be risking RNG without the need since you might actually get more ToTs along the way to replace Hasties with Prudent/BasicT. Personally, I like to include 1 Hasty or Hasty II early in the first touching phase just to conserve a little CP for Prudents inside Ingen1 later.

Speaking of Hasties too early, I threw together this which can run on 442 base CP (assuming the 4 tricks during flawless phase) and pushes a little extra quality.

For every tricks over 4 in the flawless phase you can turn a Hasty into a Precise. If you net a spare Tricks after the Hasty phase you can turn the last Hasty into a Precise. Fairly sure that can be improved but just throwing it up there incase it contributes any ideas.

I have yet to find a rotation for Ala Mhigan that doesn't use the combination of Maker's Mark, Flawless Synthesis, Manipulation II and Comfort Zone like those have used above. However once you get one piece crafted (I usually start with the chest) I would say the hardest part is over :) Even with all Ala Mhigan crafted gear and tools I still use Maker's Mark/Flawless Synthesis to create new Ala Mhigan stuff...tho I do wonder if there is an alternative now I have around 1500/1500/465 stats. IMO I still consider Ala Mhigan gear the most difficult to craft even over the new 3 star stuff.
