I disagree with that. Geomancy doesn't seem to be inferior. It's more of a forgotten art, remember, and the last heir of the tradition (Kyokuho) was not a full fledged Geomancer to begin with. So I'd say wait and see. Especially when you get to see a lot of geomancy involved in the dungie we got in 4.3

edit: And I just rememebered that it is being said int eh AST quest line that Astromancy and Geomancy are not similar but that they complement each other.

After seeing the Geomancers in The Swallow's Compass I'm all for it being added in the future as an established job. A bell as a weapon would allow for some pretty neat designs, too.

Plus there's already multiple jobs involving lost/rare arts so I don't see that as an obstacle.
