Don't get me wrong Amy, I have been saying this whole time geared mages do more dmg. The point is on a level 50 mob a weathered scepter lvl 1 does 13 less average dmg vs a lvl 50 scepter.

I think the point of this tread is that weapons for mages should scale the same as weapons for melee.
a lvl 50 lancer with a lvl 1 lance will do less dmg than he would with a lvl 50 lance.
why dont mage weapons scale similar?
why doesnt a mage with a broken weapon do 0 dmg?
Mages aren't designed the same as melee...very easy concept to understand. Mage weapons in general could stand to be stronger higher up, but they're not supposed to be equal to melee in design or what's the point of having mages and melee? That's the biggest problem with MMOs that design all classes the same.
I was wondering this exact same thing the other day when I was trying to compare a new staff with an older one. They had no mage stats listed, so I couldn't even tell if using the new staff would make a difference..
And according to your lovely math, apparently it doesn't make a difference at all >.< So I agree with you OP, it'd be great if a new, hard earned weapon actually did something. Cuz right now, your post showed me that most of my hard work is for nothing.
(I also think armor should have better use as well, but that's another topic) :P
lvl 1 and 1300 posts, i choose not to pay any attention to you. give me Amy back at least she plays the game.
i don't understand why mage weapon should influence my casting ability. I don't launch a magic hitting a mob with my staff.
That's because a mage choose a weapon based on the additional effect and not the damage
Yeah I don't play the game at all, damn glad you told me I wouldn't have known otherwise, guess I'll go back to rotting on my THM that I don't play.
No, because that leads to dull gameplay. Every MMO doesn't have black & white damage, they all have other factors because that leads to players thinking, number crunching, analyzing and optimizing.
