Love Red Mages

I lvled rdm on my alt and after being a rdm main in ffxi for so many years I feel like I'm on autopilot with rdm in xiv. Toggling between variations of 2 spells and a lackluster physical combo is kindda a snooze fest. But that's pretty much all jobs in xiv, watered down to the point of muscle memory. rdm from ff1 even feels more useful and like it requires more skill than the xiv version.

Sadly, rdm and smn, the 2 jobs they screwed up the most in this game, are my 2 favorite jobs of the series...

And that would be your opinion, 1 player out of tons, I don't like bard but guess what they are great in groups, I just don't find it fun, it's called player preference, you can't label a job "screwed up" because YOU don't like them, get over yourself.

All jobs in FFXIV have always been from the very beginning different then the traditional job it was in the past. YoshiP himself even said so ....
Don't like any of them, simply do not play. It is that easy

I agree. Red mages are a lot of fun to play. It's like they were custom built for us players who, for one reason or another, cannot maintain a complex rotation.

I changed from Dragoon to Red mage and have loved the class immensely. Having the ability to heal and the mix of ranged and melee makes for such a fun class to play.

It's the first time in any MMO I have gone from a melee classed job and it surprised me.

I was a 50 bard going into Stormblood and decided to level the new content as a red mage, including Heavensward, and I never regretted it. I still maintain the job as one of my co-mains with bard.

I am glad you also find it so fun and judging by how often I see other red mages in dungeons and raids I'd say we who find it really fun are in the majority. Many people in the forums say they lack complexity but this is a bonus for me. It has enough challenge to be fun without needless aggravation a small minority seem to crave in their gameplay. :)

Red Mage is such a good loner/pug/DF class. For me it's an alt, but its my top alt. DF raids, even hunts with no healer around you can make a big diff with your utility. Sure its not complex, but not everything needs to be and who knows what the future will bring for it.

Rdm is also the best at solo hunts, A - S ranks lvl 70. It's also good at PotD and there is going to be a new type of PtoD in the coming patches.

One thing you hear over and over about rdms is how good they are for progression, in Eureka rdm's will be wanted so people don't lose their elemntal level xp, and at e-lvl 15+ one death could set you back hours of grinding.

As for it's own personal damage, I'm seeing 34k-36k crit verflare/holys, 15k verthunders regularly which is really good for a job that packs a lot of utility.

Rdm excels at all activities, good dmg, good healing, good support, that's why they are strong, because they do everything well, which is the core job concept ever since I believe ff 5.

The odd person wants to buff our dmg a little bit but honestly I've been keeping track of my crit numbers and geared rdm hit's pretty hard, had a 34k redoublement in my last expert roulette (direct hit critical + embolden + some party debuffs).

I normally main my smn, but I always find myself switching back, and also I like doing hunts/potd so yeah, stick with it, get 2k crit, 1600+ direct hit, low spell speed and you're good to go.

sadly big numbers on screen doesn't mean anything...its just for oneself ego to say oh wow that crit was awesome but every other cls can say that as well... never the less im with your overall opinion about rdms - they have many, many situation where they can outshine nearly every other cls - tho a lil backdraw in savage is totally okay for me... its just the endgame comm who's undsatisfied with rdm cause all other areas rdms shines, are actually totally uninteresting for them... thats what its all about : /
