I also support the idea of a non-chocobo combat companion.

Honestly, the chocobo is a pretty good companion. I'd never replace Jeff.

We call him Alphinaud.

Yes, so we can all Fus Ro Dah our companions off the Winterhold bridge.

I would love companion glamour for chocobos, sort of like egi-glamour. I'm not sure I'd want a person shaped one but goobbue-regen sounds adorable.

Hopefully this is something they integrate with Squadrons and let you take a member out of the GC barracks and set as your Companion. Minus the strategy buffs and just keep the more responsive AI, and I'd be a happy camper
