Agree. I just applied my code yesterday and was surprised to see it was a single character code.
I'm surprised they didn't set everything to a single character only (Bonus item codes, mounts and glamour) in the first place, and also charge $1 per character you make after the first.
Square Enix Store Support just wrote back to me, but all they said was:
Although they didn't mention it, I do see that the Symphony page on the EU store page has now been updated with an extra line: "This item will be distributed to a single character of your choice on a selected service account."Quote:
Thank you for contacting Square Enix Store Support.
We apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately we cannot help you with this issue as we don't have access to fix the information you want.
Please contact our Central Customer Support Team, through the support portal:
EU https://support.eu.square-enix.com/c...hp?id=612&la=2
They will be better qualified to help you with in-game purchases and information, game specific questions, installation issues or any other game account related issues.
In case you have further issues please don't hesitate to contact us again.
Edit: I thought to save the old page to archive.org so there's some evidence that this text didn't appear before.
I'll contact Central Customer Support Team as advised and see what they say, especially about the upcoming Yotsuyu minion (which the EU store page hasn't changed and implies it's still account wide like previous in-game items)
Wait what? What are they thinking? "Oh, the players will just buy this expensive limited physical item a whole bunch of times if they have more characters!"?
There's absolutely no practical use for buying that multiple times, so why should one not be enough for your whole account?
Agreed.
This is a very alarming thing for them to suddenly do. For now, the Shiva statue says it's account wide, but if it flips to single character only, that is a HUGE middle finger to players that subscribe with the "Standard" option and play with more than one character.
Why did Square Enix advertise "make 8 characters on 1 world" as a selling point for Legacy/Standard subscriptions, when they CONSTANTLY try to limit what you can do with alts? Can't friend request your alt directly, which means you can't send your alt mail, or add your alt as a tenant to a private house. It's a cumbersome process to get an alt into a Linkshell or FC, you have to have someone else invite them.
They claim it was done this way to go against RMT, but those gil sellers still use Free Company chests which has no limit of depositing/withdrawing gil and items in the chest. While your inbox will stop receiving mail if there's 20 total items attached, and it's a very cumbersome process. The only option for RMT is actually the BEST option they could ask for!
Of course, like this thread, the Community Team will ignore these issues AGAIN and just repost a translated Japanese dev post about something else. So your best bet is hoping someone on the Japanese forum also brought this up.
SIGH
I'm so tired with this company.
Wow, that is so messed up how the GM ignored you, and was like "Oh, guess the OP isn't replying, gonna lock it lmao". Seriously?
And to add to the post, this is a list of all the merchandise released so far that has item codes since ARR begun. The one bolded is the only one that's for a single character

Of course, for everyone here. The best way to get actual results is to ask Yoshi-P directly about this ASAP, whether at Fan Fest or any event where they have interviews. The Community Team will NEVER forward our thoughts about this.
Or post about it on the Japanese forums.
In order to give him the benefit of doubt, I'd like to hope he didn't know about the specifics of the marketing with these products, but at the same time, he and Foxclon are the ones that reveal them during the Live Letter.
It would be very nice if they made the collectible systems (Minions, Mounts, Orchestrations) account-wide as a whole, similar to the way WoW ended up doing it a few expansions ago, would definitely solve a lot of these problems going forward and also get rid of the 50+ moogle mails you get when creating a new character with all the account-wide items as well as veteran rewards.
This needs to be addressed by the dev team.
I feel like consumables on the mogstation like dyes and fantasias are the only things that should be single-character. In game items like mounts and minions, especially things from bonus item codes, should always be account-wide.
