4.0 was also my first real attempt at savage, and my only advice is to not get discouraged at failures. Because you and your parties are going to fail a lot, but that's just how it goes. Try at every failure to figure out WHAT led to that failure. Not to point fingers and blame someone, but to better understand the circumstances that can lead to a failure so that you can play smarter in future runs. the biggest roadblock I've seen in new starts is the mindset "I've seen every video and know the fight perfectly, but my party keeps letting me down". That's simply not how anyone should think, you have to work together and be willing to learn from mistakes, listen to others, and provide patience and respect to those around you.

Good news is Red Mage you will have an easier time as (especially starting out) over other jobs.
My advice is just to find a good group willing to maybe teach you and just do your best.
Thankfully my first run we had someone nice enough to do callouts which helped alot.
03S is where stuff gets complicated especially running for a first time but as with everything you learn

Update: Finally tried my hand with a learning party last night for O1S. We did a few pulls and whittled him down pretty close to dead, but didn't get to beat him. We had to cut things a bit short since one person had some stuff that came up, but it was a good learning session without any real salt. I feel like timing is my biggest obstacle atm, but with a few more tries I think I can get through without too many problems.
