Never played FFVII or IX, huh or even FFXI's take on it?

I think she assumed people were cemented into the FF games to realize traits carried over as you bred your Chocobo and used the colors as a specific example of what they did in older games.
A gold chocobo retained all traits of the Blue, Light Blue, Light/Dark Green and Black chocobo, for example, which means it can do everything, meaning thats your overall goal in raising a chocobo.
A Light and Dark Blue Chocobo were aquarian chocobos. Light blue can cross streams and rivers while dark ones can cross a bit of the ocean (deeper water), logically if you raise a Blue chocobo and raise it to become a Black or Gold chocobo, it'll retain it's ability to jump/dig/cross rivers/cross some deeper ocean.
Obviously being able to color your chocobo any color would change the "defined route" based on color because in FFXI you could train your chocobo specifically in traits no matter the color.
They most likely be able to since our PCs will be able to jump come 2.0.
Just what we need, time spent rendering jump animations for the 8 bazillion mobs mounts that will be released. I can't wait to ride my goobue pouncing through the fields.
gwuh...
The notion of that fills me with excitement actually... imagine it. Have a pounce button that makes the goobbue leap into the air/lunge forward with a big shockwave where it lands. Anything in a 20 malm radius would be staggered (stunned) and even hurt based on how close it was to the goobbue. Give it a 20~60s cooldown to curb obnoxiousness and whala! Would definately make things more exciting; especially for new players. Imagine venturing out of the starting city for your first time and "OMG WHAT THE #$%& IS THAT LUNGING AT ME! ........oh, thats a player?! THAT WAS AWESOME!"
EDIT: The pounce needs dust clouds and some screenshake too
to be able to move in the third dimension?
What's the point in walking forwards and backwards?
What's the point in swinging a weapon?
Whether or not you like jumping though, I don't understand why this question has come up. It would probably depend on the mount.
"White Goobbues Can't Jump"
Jumping allows for more freedom in level design, and it is handy in navigating over/around annoying little obstacles. The fact that a couple little kids will act like morons is not a reason not to have this beneficial function.
At any rate, if jumping is enabled, it might be a problem if one has to dismount and remount any time a jump might be actually necessary, so if we can jump, mounts probably will too.
Jumping is a great way to get your character stuck in some place it shouldn't...
What annoying little obstacles? They made everything "YOU CAN GO THROUGH THIS DURP" also walking around for 1 second is sooo much work.
There are more obstacles in life, I pretty much NEVER jump over em 99% of the time the 1% is the time I just wanna see if I can jump over it. Fact is, there is no need for jump
There isn't until they redesign the world map to take advantage of it like they are already doing.
