HAHAHAHAHA, if you think it is a one day task then you have no idea what kind of backend goes into those wards. SE would literally need to order more servers and set up the infrastructure to handle them. We didn't even get as much inventory space as promised due to server strain let alone adding new wards on demand

How about an auction system instead? Each plot has a minimal starting bid, players can cast one bid lot and have only one bid lot active per paerson and bid to their hearts content on the plot. At the end of the auctions time frame, highest bidder wins the plot.

What I find embarrassing is that ffXI gave you a room as soon as you logged in, and that was in 2004. 13 years later and s/e can't figure out how to do housing? It's always one step forward 3 steps back with this dev team.

I'd hate the break this to everyone... but the "Server strain" is an easily addressable issue when it comes to network ability and being able to expand. The harsh truth is just that Square Enix tends to only tell half-truths when it comes to this to try to appease the backlash. Anyone who has played their MMOs since 2004ish knows this is true. They CAN do it, It's within their POWER to do it but as a company Square-Enix is behind on the times and they don't understand how important this stuff really is.

Little example is just look how long it took for them to give basic QoL improvements on their other MMOs and you'll see what I mean. QoL improvements are just as important as adding playable content. People spend more time outside of content than they do inside content on average... thing is... things like gold saucer, chocobo races, and housing all COUNT as content within the game. Which is what many people seem to fail to understand.

Instances housing would work fine. I imagine they could easily do it like they did apartments. ____ many players can have instanced housing in this area. For those who want the whole ward system they would obviously gravitate to that... those who don't care would likely opt for instanced, especially if you could upgrade housing size within an instance. Bottom line, they need to add restrictions to the system as a whole to help prevent all of this.

It is exactly the way it works now. Don't believe me, have 101 people enter your house.

Unfortunately, there's really no way to solve this problem that makes Balmung players happy. People should never have crowded onto a single server like that.

More wards for bigger servers ALONG with these listed changes ix a fix as well. The entire system is a mess - it's basically set up for pre 3.0 if even that and the amount of players currently ingame has it completely non viable as a sustainable system. It's really sad that when I stay up waiting for a patch with more than enough money for any house ingame because my launcher glitches out I basically rng miss out on getting my FC a house while others have multiple houses....and now I have no choice but to hope one clears while I see people selling houses for insane prices in pf and elsewhere. This needs addressed in some meaningful way.

It is probably not about the development time and more about server space, stability and trying to justify increasing the cost to host FFXIV to accommodate these demands with nary an incentive that will visibly pay off instantly. I'm referring to adding it as an additional service under the Mogstation. Remember, SE the company holds the purse strings, not the XIV team and not Yoshida.

Except those Moghouses weren't even to give you a nice place to live, it was purely for technical reasons - the whole system was designed specifically to help stabilize the main server population by keeping a personal instanced area that only the player could access and thus encouraged the player to spend as much time in there as possible.

Hence a lot of gameplay features could only be accessed inside there, such as changing your Job/setting a subjob, gardening, accessing your inbox, item storage etc. You couldn't even invite another person in there til circa 2007 (over five years after the game launched!), and even then it was only because player population had declined so much that SE considered the server stability purpose of Moghouses to be now redundant, so they relaxed restrictions on accessing them - you could then access another person's Moghouse, but only if you were in a party or alliance with them and then only if they accepted it.

Either way, the FFXIV equivalent for Moghouses more or less is the Inn anyway, albeit you can't change the furniture, but you can pretty much do anything you do inside a house in a Inn room really.

So saying "FFXI did housing better" is a fallacy.
