I like this idea. I love alot of the outfit contest designs that don't get picked.

Why are people so eager to give Square Enix MORE money when they pay $40~60 (USD) for the licence to download the game and $180 a year to play it? I don't understand. I mean I like this game, I've been subbed continuously since 2.0. But it baffles me that people are okay with spending more money outside of the regular costs when it used to be standard to buy it once and get it all. And then their first idea for cool new stuff is to offer to pay for it when they could get it for free! I just don't understand at all.
The mogstation is just ridiculously expensive. I can buy RL clothes for less money. Until they seriously overhaul the prices, I'm not going anywhere near it.
It's simple pragmatism. Most everyone accepts DLC and micro-transactions are here to stay regardless of the complaints. With that in mind, if you really want a particular item, what will motivate a business to provide it for you? Asking for...
- a fully fleshed in-game event?
- the item itself as a simple quest reward?
- it to be available on the mogstation where you'll pay them for it?
Not hard to guess which will be preferred from the business side. Plenty of people are okay spending that extra money for stuff they want.
She's a Roe, she can handle the foul spawn of Hell with one hand, whilst eating a sandwich with the other :P As to OP's suggestion, I'm quite happy to buy stuff from the cash shop, but I find the pricing suggestion a bit steep... I do kind of like the idea of a design station though, I must admit :) I found this gem of a site today, for glamour suggestions.
Creating new things costs money. Try pitching an idea to management and when they ask how much it will cost and what kind of returns can they expect to see, tell them it will make no returns because it will be free and the cost to create it will come out of current profits. There is no upside for them because it only benefits players that are already paying a sub.
It could be argued that it should be part of the development budget, but the game already has a ton of free glamour items in-game that were paid for with sub fees. This is extra and the cost to create it, and have it turn a profit, must come from somewhere. The current cost does seem absurdly high and I want to see it drop drastically as much as anyone else, but having no cost at all is not practical.
I support them adding as much cool stuff as they can to the Mogstation.... the second it transforms from a cash-shop to a couple of Moogle's accepting in-game currency.
Otherwise, it can piss right the Hell off.
I agree with you.
I think you may have inadvertently answered your own question. People offer to pay extra because they don't count their sub; they see all the items they get in game as 'free' and assume extra cash will be needed if we want more things in-game than we already have. Ironic, considering we now have record numbers of subscribers and FFXIV is probably generating more income than ever before.
I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for more quality of life improvements but asking for everything to go into the Mog-Shop because of some perception that we already get enough for 'free' or that Square is starved of cash strikes me as rather naive.
