I wait until I have a card I want on spread, balance or spear and then pop it. I usually have good luck with it such as getting a group spread when I do that. So pretty much used when it's off cool down.

This is what I do.
Draw and Spread a Balance, Arrow, or Spear then use Sleeve Draw to fill in the rest. If the card in the Drawn slot is a Ewer or Spire and my Royal Road isn't AoE, I'll Royal Road them for an AoE.

It's good to use when you've got a spread card and want to fill up the other 3 slots. Most ideal situation is getting expanded royal road and something useful in your draw, so you can hang onto your spread and try drawing again for another expanded royal road in 30 seconds, maximizing buff uptime.

Or when draw is on cooldown and you're bored, and you like to live life on the edge.

it helps you throw out more aoe buffs in 8 man party.

Just use it right at the opening and on CD & right after your draw.
