I think they just need to make parties more of an option for leveling... You cant party until 40+
People are so funny, I’m not sure why some are saying that prospect of having later game challenging Solo fights is totally not going to, or shouldn’t happen. Honestly they already have small instances of it in the game now. Some of the main scenario quest fights, you already have to do solo (Beckon of the Elementals you have to do solo). There are also Grand Company leves where you aren't permitted to have a party help you (I last time I tried, the ones in Muy-Tuy Cellars are like that). True, the ones I mentioned aren't terribly hard, but I think its assuming a bit much to say that they aren't going to add (at the very least )something like the Maat job fights somewhere down the road. Why does the idea of having some challenging solo content frighten people? Why is it threatening for SE to provide multiple play-style content?
There will likely always be far more party-style content than solo style content, but I actually do hope that they continue to sprinkle some challenging solo fighting in here and there. Its nice to have some diversity. To me, it would be kind of rewarding to have at least a few things that you can achieve that are based off your own skill rather than that you had a awesome team that maybe carried you thru it, or had a level capped friend come do it for you.
If you don’t see any value in having a few solo fights, that’s fine, that’s your prerogative, but don’t act like that just because you only like one style, that it is the only style that should be offered. Having a few solo challenges available to players isn’t the end of the world, it wouldn’t take away from your experience. Honestly it would only add to the life of the game and keep more people playing. It’s not always fun to rinse, lather, repeat the same style all the time. Some like to try new and very different types challenges.
Its so petty to see the “This is an MMO” retorts, or the “If you want to play solo, go play Skyrim” type comments… There is no reason why different styles of players can’t coexist and enjoy their time in FFXIV. Just because people want to have some solo type content doesn’t mean that they are anti-social, or don’t want to play with others. Just because some don’t have as much time to spend on large party situations, doesn’t mean they should just give up on achieving anything in this game. The game is about growing your character.. so why shouldn’t there be diversity to keep things interesting? We want people to keep playing, not get bored and move on.
In reality content is what we need, so I’ll gladly accept any and all content they throw at us and thoroughly encourage SE to offer diverse opportunities.. that’s what keeps it interesting and adds longevity. Anything that keeps multiple people’s attention so that they continue to play is good, because it means I will have people to play with. Casual and Hardcore players all pay the same at the end of the month.
Seriously I think the real root of people not wanting “end game solo content” is that “elite” players worry that a solo player might actually be able to have some kind of cool equipment that might be comparable to what they might acquire from a huge alliance style raid that they “worked so hard for”. I’ll remind you that solo fights don’t have to mean easy. If its challenging enough, why shouldn’t they get a chance at possibly getting some cool drop too?
Content is content….. Bring on the content!
