Next Expansion: I want to go to Lucis!

It is not. XV takes place in a totally separate dimension/universe/reality from XIV. Lucis is not a place on Hydaelyn so we can't just "go" there. There was talk of an XV crossover, but we haven't heard anything specific about it, likely since they couldn't figure out a good way to actually make the realms cross in a way that made sense from either world's respective lore. Regardless of that, if we did get an XV crossover event, it would likely be in the current world and include mostly current assets with a few special ones thrown in like they did for XI, XIII and DQ.

Those things don't exist in the same universe.

Sharlayan and Thavnair both seem really likely candidates for the next expansion. SE could surprise us with something else again like they did with Doma though.

He's suggested it could be 5.0 before (a couple expansions away, said while we were still in HW) and that Doomtrain could be there. Nothing solid/official and everything subject to change of course; they still want to surprise us.

Old Sharlayan and Thavnair aren't big. They are tiny compared to Othard which is supposed to be a continent. Ilsabard, the third of the three great continents and where Garlemald is located, is the last really major landmass we have in this part of the world. They could do all three in one expansion (1 zone thavnair, 1 zone sharlayan, 4 zones ilsabard)

Pretty sure Yoshi has at least once mentioned 6.0 for Garlemald.

Also despite the two island nations not being that big (although Thavnair is actually pretty big), there's still a lot more islands to look into. Pretty sure that's one of the real reasons why we got swimming: to expand content potential to more island areas.

With a quick search the closest I can find to that is "the campaign against the Garleans may last until 6.0" which isn't exactly the same. There's a lot of distortion of information with people interpreting comments in different ways, translating foreign interviews different ways, and retelling the story different ways "I heard this news from my linkshell". So I try to separate fact from fiction. I think we will touch on Ilsabard next expansion, but nothing is certain until another fan fest reveal in the future.

They could certainly do an expansion solely on smaller islands, which would give them some room to remake some old zones at the same time with flying added. But they could do a big continent expansion and still have a lot left over for the future too (The New World, Meracydia and whatever else is out there beyond the borders of the current map)

not really. though i do admit that introducing characters and factions such as the kingsglaive and Ardyn was on those lines.

however, all we know is that there is "A" Lucis within the universe of FFXIV. so i dont see why they shouldn't include an alternative reality. for example, the kingsglaive was not developed until much later in the XV timeline, while i wish for it to be developed much earlier. Ardyn does not necessarily need to be within the universe, but an enemy as interesting as the daemons would add a newer threat and possibly a new night-time system where they would only appear. same thing with an oracle job, since traditionally, there is to be only one oracle.

on top of this, ive already mentioned that i wanted Lucis to have a steampunk theme to it.

Again you are trying to jam thrust FFXV into FXIV. How exactly is there "A" Lucis within the universe of FFXIV? Are you basing this on the "Lucis" crafting and gathering tools? There is no Lucis on the world map released by SE for Hydaelyn.

No we will not go to Lucis. This is XIV, and it has its own story. It's not just a Final Fantasy theme park like people would believe.
