They said they were looking into a need or greed system, but the current server infrastructure will not allow it, so totems and kupo nut charms are a temp fix until 2.0 when the server infrastructure will be alot more optimised, it was announced after the live letter.

Need and greed is stupid idea
1. The timelimit is annoying, especially if things drop mid battle and its up in your face "HEY HEY HEY PICK A BUTTON IGNORE UR DYING HEY HEY"
2. everyone will just greed.... At least with XI's system that is similar but more organized and not in your face.

There is actually a way around this, I don't want to mention another MMORPG here since it advertisement. But how the loot system is Need and Pass only. The way it work is that you can only "Need" if the weapon or Armor is your class, otherwise you have to click "Pass" this sytem work perfect because it fair to the class, and when there is an armor or weapon that does drop that no class can use everyone can press "Need" and it roll whoever highest.

If there is 2 - 3 class the same the Need is there for the roll and it is fair.

Not sure I like it. What if Im joining a pug group and they only need thm but Im looking for the pug weapon?

I think we should be able to pass items to others but it should remain private so there is no drama.
