Thanks ..I'll give it a few more tries.. I just have been unlucky with the floor setup..Like 4 times there was a Level 3 Ziz the closest monster and I could not get by it without it aggroing on me. Its all random. I just need a setup that has level 1 and 2s close by that I can get some levels on.

I've soloed it on Arcanist before, it's actually one of the easiest solo jobs. Level 2's should die in like 3 Ruins. Additionally, you should have a Role Skill in your actions menu called Break. Cast that on mobs as you pull them, it inflicts them with Weight, slowing their movement speed. This allows you to cast Ruin on them several time before they reach you.

Break..okay I will look for that. I was under the impression I got Ruin and nothing else till level 2 . SO I did not even look.

IF you max out your lights before going solo should be way easier for you. ( while there is a cap it still is to your advantage to have everything maxed out light wise. ) Spend time learning how traps work, know your items, and keep in mind your surroundings. Know your enemies patterns and don't fight in open rooms if you can avoid it specially later on. Also I would take a break for a bit PotD unstable do to new jobs leveling. It's awful if your going for achievement and get disconnected.

ok thanks ManuelBravo..and thanks everybody for the advice. I think I am better prepared now. Sorry for being such a newbie.

Good luck it's fun but can be a headache at first ^^, also if you cleared up to floor 100 with a party you can see what to expect battle wise.

I agree with Manuel, because what every other poster forgot to mention, is that maxing out your weapon can/will make a difference. PotD was and is soloable, however keep in mind that changes made to certain jobs, will need you to adjust and prepare more, than you would have done prior to that.
For example, prior to SB, you could summon titan/garuda/ifrit and put a sustain on it, and don't have to worry about a thing. Besides maybe watching your rotation and aggro/hate management. Now that's different but still possible to do, and easier when actually knowing the fights/floors or the general system behind potd, before attempting it.
If you're planning on just doing it till level 50 solo, make sure that you max that weapon at 30/30. That was before they introduced the higher floors the max and didn't cause any problems, however with the introduction of the newer floors, you now can and should, if you're still having problems, get that weapon/armor up to 99/99.
