The only materia you can meld on gear is DPS materia though? You can meld Crit, Det, Direct Hit, Skill Speed and tenacity. Tenacity reducing damage taken about as well as a paper towel means you're better off going for Crit or Direct hit which are stronger per point than the other choices you have.

You're welcome to use full vitality gear and stay in shield oath for the entire duration of your dungeon run, then. There's no penalty for it other than taking more time, and there never was one.

Boy, I sure am not tired of being told that I'm not a true tank because I care about my dps

Or that you shouldn't be doing DPS because you're a tank and "tanks don't DPS"

When I am leveling a DPS class I hate when I get the slow and deliberate tanks that don't push the pace or DPS. As a tank main I know how fast things can be done and when you're running a dungeon for the 1000th time (anima weapons, leveling alts, grinding tomes) I don't have the patience for a 35m dungeon.

A good tank can keep it in the 15-20m range.

The enmity changes are certainly nice and solve the problems with enmity... for the time being . in a few patches when ilvl is increased its just going to become a problem again unless we see some more meaningful changes, because while dps attack power will go up exponentially, ours will only go up half as fast with the way it currently works. Tanks using STR accessories in 3.0-3.3 (or whenever they changed the damage calculations to VIT) didnt use them JUST for the damage, it massively helped for generating enough enmity to actually do your job in the first place, especially as the fight design in this game is more about big tank buster than it is about constant fast damage on you so having too much HP didnt actually benefit you aslong as you could survive a tank buster comfortably.

Yeah I hate being in a pool of lazy casual tanks who just sit there and think tanks shouldn't dps. My group wants me to wear slaying, because I'm used to tanking in gordias in slaying, however I do understand the vit change and which I'm okay with, but they should have designed tenacity to better the dps lost from vit.
