This, contact Steam Support an explain your problem, after all was an honest mistake (but be patient) and should be no problem at all (worst case scenario is going to be one time deal).

Oh, actually you are right. He had the game on steam but he also has a key outside steam, that's why. So he can log on steam version of the game since its the launcher that counts. So yeah the OP has to get refund.

It was a steam code purchased in a store, non refundable! FML. My own fault, I should have checked, so not like me. I got excited >.>
