I currently use a display port for my primary monitor, on which I have FFXIV running. My GTX 1080 is from EVGA. How would I go about investigating such settings, finding conflicts, and resolving them? I consider myself to be very techy, yet have never heard of GPU/Monitor conflicts before unless you're trying to force it to run at a resolution not possible on your monitor.

I started to get this error as well a few weeks ago and had hoped with new driver updates it would go away but it seems like it's getting worse. Just updated to the latest drivers and been crashing almost non-stop sense.

Just wanted to post and say that I've never had this happen until the past week or so... and now it seems to be happening ALL the time. Hasn't seemed to be anything I could put my finger on causing it... happens randomly but usually at an event of some sort triggering like at Duty pop, warps, emotes, or even maybe at certain skills. I have an almost brand new PC build 6700k & gtx1070 and it's ice cold, water cooled, with no problems. No changes besides FFXIV patch. I've tried reinstalling FFXIV and my drivers. I shouldn't have to do anymore when it's obviously a problem with this patch as it's happening to a lot of people it never has before. =/ I hope i don't have to take a break until Stormblood, like a lot of people have, but just to wait for a fix... cause it's looking like it might be smart if this keeps happening to me.

Its definitely the app load side of things. I get Direct X crashes once everyday to the point I'm expecting it to happen. Considering this game is the only 1 crashing I have to say reinstalling anything is futile.
The only thing we can do is hope the devs will override this issue with Storm Blood as Soundtribe mentioned. If I'm going to raid anything I have to switch to my PS4 pro just to make sure the game doesn't crash randomly
What was really shocking to me is that I never got a crash farming Zurvan EX and he dropped "6" birds in that raid which I won 1 myself. But then it crashed when I was riding the Firebird mount in Idy its a random occurrence for sure

Have you tried using a program like CCleaner to clean out your registry and other old files? That worked for me.

Its safe to say that this indeed fixed the Direct X crashing. I did all of my Daily Roulettes, 3 EX primals via Wondrous Trails, also Beast Tribes and never had a single crash. Wow thank you so much Iggy
I'm crash free now.

Memo to discord users, Go in settings and turn off the use GPU setting. It tends to share with XIV and on DX11 it caused so many crashes with DX. After I turned it off. No issues.

Back in the time too. Things like Steam overlay was still using DX9 for the overlay, so on top of DX 11, it acted up. Doesnt seem to be the case anymore, but if you are using Raptr etc, those could still cause it.
