Seems to still be going on, they don't even update the log in screen saying ppl might be having issues, that they're looking into it or that they're even doing anything about it. No use using the USELESS contact us service, they take days to reply to a normal message, and ignore all the ones of ppl actually claiming there is anything wrong with their game.

It's pathetic to pay for this game and it either doesn't work properly, lags, DCs, errors or constantly offline for updates/patches. I wonder how much money/time I've lost that i've paid for over my 3 years due to patches/updates/hotfixes alone? I'd estimate well over a 30 day sub I've paid for and stolen off me.

It would seem this is unfortunately a common and recurring technical issue that no dev or specialist in technical support has shown any interest in addressing, helping, etc. It tends to happen most if not only during emergency maintenance. HERE is an old post i found in the forums showing exact same problems. Hopefully the suggested means by other players can help some. Personally, I'm STILL trying to figure this mess out. A sure 100% fix would be greatly appreciated if found out. Even better if we can get a dev or technical support to actually give us feedback on this issue. For record, I own a physical copy of HW on PS4.

I tried restoring liscenses multiple times, disconnected internet, powered off, turned back on and reconnected, still same issues. Only thing i have not tried was deleting all data, but I'd really rather not resort to this unless it is absolutely necessary.

I have done all of these too multiple times, and no love for me either

Same error here. Nothing had changed with my internet.

It's an ISP error, just hotspot your phone to your PS4 and than go into game and it will update. Did this on mine as well as my sons and no problem.

I am unfamiliar with the process in doing this. As it turns out i have other updates for more games but they only download, not install.

This is a problem with ISP/backbone routing (specifically the Level3/Ormuco handoff in Canada), not SE's game or servers. It'll hopefully get better when the NA datacenter is moved later this year.

Until then, connecting from a different physical connection (like a phone WiFi hotspot) often helps, or changing your DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.1, or using a VPN while patching.

Same with my PS4 I'm thinking maybe this is a Sony issue rather then a FFXIV one? My SMITE needed to update so it would download but not install at all.

The mobile phone hotspot thing worked, updated launcher immediately.

I don't know if this fixed it or if it was a coincidence. But I tried everything here and nothing worked. Seems like for some reason my littlebigplanet download wouldn't work. Every time I reset my ps4 it would try to start the lbp update again. So I deleted the update and the game off my system. Restarted. The XIV update popped up after that
