Is it really the "minority" that wants more open world content?
Is it really the "minority" that wants more open world content?
I'm reminded of the original relic step, which just required an easy crafted green weapon and some materia to meld into the thing (relatively cheap and readily available tier IIIs, at worst like 10k per on my server). I don't recall anyone complaining about that, and crafters made BANK then on tips because most people hadn't bothered leveling them yet.
Exactly my point, if the anima crafter step had been something more akin to that? There wouldn't have been nearly as much backlash if any at all. I know they wanted the anima to be a grind, but needing the 80 tokens (at the time) was more than enough grind. The crafted part should have been the easiest thing, not one of the most irritating.
No but it is faster to make a PF party first for a lot of things. Had 11 actually had a proper system like PF it would never of been an issue. As for a minority on open world content I don't think that is true as this seems to be asked all the time. I think SE need to do another opinion poll on things.
I really think that he should focus on the basics before adding extras.Quote:
Y: It is planned as content, and it's still a thing. But it’s a matter of when it would be a perfect fit to have that content released. If the community becomes very tight-knit and sort of like closed almost, kind of like on auto-pilot. If and when that happens is when I feel it’s appropriate to release this kind of content; I'm envisioning a guild versus guild type of scenario. I feel that releasing the content is still way too early at this point, had it not been for so many players being on FF14 yes that’s still kind of the reason we’re needing to monitor the situation. At the time of 2.0 development, we didn’t expect so many people joining the community.
This is one problem that hurts so many extra new content, like Lord of Verminion or Palace of the Dead (that could've been like that FFXI event that everyone talks about, but ended being just another way to level up).
This is why I never supported people complaining about FATEs, Hunts, Treasure Maps and so on. It sends the wrong message.
On the open world -
I think that the ARR open world is much better than the HW one. Doing Leves, FATEs, questing, etc. is more comfortable on "cramped" areas. Being able to fly was a bad addition in my opinion. You never run into other people, going to places takes much more time (even with flying) than in ARR and most of the world mobs are useless; I tried charging head first in the Sylphlands for the relic and almost died due to how many things I aggroed, while doing beastman dailies in HW, even with i170 gear (equivalent lower than what I have right now), I could just fly to the quest objective (no matter where) and fight the one or two enemies nearby.
I don't know if this is a misunderstanding on their part, my part or something else entirely but this is the least encouraging thing i've heard about FFXIV in quite some time.Quote:
Matt Hilton: I think your question just boils down to there’s no open world content.
R: Yes, that’s a big part of the question.
Y: We understand the demand for it. But we’re not Final Fantasy XI (room laughs) so we don’t have intentions of making it.
Like Masekase_Hurricane said, we have PF, shout, FC, linkshells and friends list to find people for our parties. Saying DF is faster than using a combination of those, is ludicrous to be honest. I can get a full party set up in less than a minute, DF can only match that if I queue as a tank.
I love all the hate for XI even from Yoshi, its starting to really turn my stomach. Everyone wants XIV to be its own game but yet all its ideas MUST come from WoW in some form, when is enough going to be enough?
