They need to change that instance to a solo IMO.
IF they would lock it, and even adding higher rewards, people would than start avoiding it. We've been there. Some data center's would have 2 hrs waiting time for "new" players to finish up their MSQ, some might never finish at all since nobody wants to wait that long. Instead of making such harsh adjustments that would punish most of the veteran players that are kind enough to queue for MSQ roulette, just remove that roulette all together. Or we could just remove both of these dungeons from the MSQ and make it a side quest.
Prae was the reason why I stopped playing ARR (I continued like one year later). It was incredibly frustrating... my FC suggested I skip the scenes and watch them later in my cinematic book, which I did, but even then I didn't know what to do because everyone was so fast. There is this one point where you have to get that magitek key in order to advance but everything happens so sudden that you just stand in front of the robot and don't know what to do.
One time a newbie asked if she could watch cutscenes and everyone was like "yeah sure, of course" and yet still rushed forward.
They should give a specific Prae cinematic bonus. Everytime you watch a cutscene to the end like +25 stones or something and suddenly everyone will be watching those :D
A warning is just a band-aid that doesn't solve the problem.
Forced cutscenes creates more problems.
The only solution is to rework the instance into a solo duty. This game is gonna be 4 years old and it's into its third expansion, it's about time they solved this issue.
Yeah, I ran my daily Main Scenario today with 2 new players. The NIN was cool about the quick run even though she was left in the dust because of the walker portion and the BRD was almost never seen because he wanted to watch the cut scenes. I repeated protested that we wait and allow them to enjoy it; but everyone else wanted a fast clear. They even tried to kick on of the new players for not being able to keep up.
It would seem it's too easy to clear to where they'll even pull with 2 DPS and 1 healer (myself) not in the fight and clear it in 30 seconds.
They should redesign CM and Prae. I see people on Reddit on a near-daily basis asking if this is what dungeons will be like from now on, and I've seen many players say they're quitting if that's the case.
CM and Prae present new players with a terrible game experience to what should be the big moment of victory at the end of the ARR quest line. Make it single-player, that's the only solution I can see that'd work. Suggesting people PF it won't fix all the problems, since you might get people on PF who do the same thing because people are people. Putting a notification on the duty suggesting that it's cutscene-heavy wouldn't fix all the problems, because people are people. SE keep forgetting that MMO players crave efficiency and will do very shitty stuff in the name of it, so this kind of thing has to be designed around.
Most of these "solutions" will just make people never, ever run MSQ roulette and then the instances will never be done. A warning seems fine.
I agree they should be solo though.
What they should consider is retuning the dungeons for 4-man, divide up the different dungeon parts (maybe take a cue from raids and make multiple mini-bosses and make the first boss the final boss of that part), and throw them into 50 roulette like Aetherochemical is in 60. We'd lose one roulette, which could be good or bad depending on your feelings.
Benefits: People can enjoy cutscenes; faster queues for those dungeons than what story roulette gives; one less roulette?
Downsides: One less roulette?
Something definitely needs to be tweaked with these two dungeons. How to do it? I'm not sure haha, but it needs to be a more enjoyable experience for new players.
I remember getting to these and being terrified of doing them as I was scared I was gonna screw up. So I unsubbed for a few months, came back to it and bit the bullet, and I hated it. I didn't even watch every cutscene and I got locked out of almost everything, I didn't realise you needed to activate the Magitek either and I got horrendously lost until I was automatically brought into the final fight.
Everyone is so desperate to rush the content it ruins it for new players and is such a terribly disheartening finish to the originals MSQ.
Use Monster Hunter's style:
Cutscenes play for everyone and will not cancel unless everyone cancels them. Nothing extra really needs to be placed in other than some coding that checks to see if 8/8 people cancelled the scene.
