Can we have the option to not count unsync instances with our overall total SE?

You get yourself worked up over the strangest things.

Do we need to change is so far full groups get the option to comm too?

Disable full preformed party clears from counting too?

Should that be disabled instead?

What happens if you make more friends and everyone wants to run dungeons exclusively as a group?

I can only laugh at how far down the proverbial rabbit hole this line of thinking will go.

A bit of in game ocd sure, and If I do a run as a tank which Im basically maining now and even if no wipe and we finish in 20 mins which that is normally the case in things Im farming now. Like shom al hard I use to farm for scrips, and arf for lore in these I tend to not get them very much and I guess to me I feel as tho I under preformed if Im not getting them.

So for me its a type of progression If Im doing a good job at tanking then my numbers will stay up , If Im not gettin them then in that instance I need to improve and do better. I mean they mean something or they wouldn't be apart of becoming a mentor , the game doesnt tell you if your doing something right so your only guide to go by is other players or a dps monitor which arent really allowed in the game. So if that number is way off if you main tank or healer then Id feel like I wasnt effectively doing my job correctly, so the reason Id want unsync to be separate is because by putting them in there it creates the wrong amount of instances where people could give their opinions on your gaming performance.

You could be just doing a "ok" job and still get a com on any role. Really means nothing, coms can even go to people who've done the worst the entire run, it doesn't matter in the least.

Try and keep that ratio up on a dps and see how far you get :P

So what if you did fine but you didn't get commendations because someone else explained/was funny/did a very good move/etc.?
Getting commendations is not the proof you do fine. It is a reward someone gave you for his/her own reasons.

It sounds like you're asking the devs to implement a permanent solution to a temporary OCD issue. The number of people on earth who are actively tracking YOUR commendations:dungeons ratio is ...one. And if you would even consider not helping friends do content because of that....that's a problem. I think you should look at the (very very very) long run. Eventually you will get an achievement for running 10000 dungeons, and (if SE doesn't add one for 20000) you will never see your tracker count higher than that. Will you avoid running dungeons ever again after that achievement because it will a give false impression of how often you truly get comm'd? Or will you grin big because eventually the number of comms will grow vastly higher than 10000, and that 1 person on earth is now patting you on the back? Reality is probably neither, because you'll realize it's fruitless to even care about the issue.

As an easy 'fix' maybe go pug some nice 8 man content, and be such a stellar person that you start walking away with 3 comms per duty. That should create a nice ratio buffer to allow you to help your friends with a clean conscience.
I have 2932 comms and 3354 instances run, AM I A TERRIBLE PLAYER BECAUSE MY COMMS ARE < DUTIES? If you had the insider knowledge that I have a static for raiding and Ex trials, and ran literally HUNDREDS of 4 man duties solo/unsynced to light farm 9 Novus relics, what would you think of me then? I must run most content as a tank or a healer? I'm talkative and sociable? I do tons of 8 man pugs? I just got lucky and played with people who aren't stingy with their comms? Nothing really, each one is just an independent tracker for an achievement. And when achievements are gotten, the rest is.

TL : DR If the devs implemented something for this, it would be setting a precedent for a LARGE number of future fixes for personal problems players have, and take away from real development for larger fractions of the player base. The solution lies with you.

Because nobody cares about the commendation ratio but you and any dev resources put towards it should be put towards something else.

it's not even a number that gets shown, it's something you arbitrarily decided to calculate for yourself.

I got a new stat for you to track.

I dont have the patience to play dps even tho I still get them on dps as well, but I dont have time to wait 30 mins for a dungeon then do the instance for another 30. Tank ques are instant, I dont like being squishy like dps and can die from two or three hits, not really fun to me but I know most players enjoy dps , dps jobs will always come last to me. No self heals no defensive buffs and can die in like two hits just isnt very appealing to me at all.

But again Ive gotten them several times as a dps I just dont care for dps ques are theres nothing so amazing about a dps job that Id rather not play a tank. Tanks have it all damage, health , self heals, there is nothing appealing about being a dps main in the slightest.

@yotsuffy : I wish I knew how to put in ques in here still havent figured that out yet would love if someone told me. But for the most part when Im tanking its just a straight shoot I learned when I was healing you just wait on protect pull as many adds as you can , go to first boss , same thing to second boss, same to 3. Talking really doesnt happen unless Im explaining stuff to a new player its just straight to business to get it done. So most of the time there never really are any jokes are anything in my parties im in only maybe if I run stuff with friends.

@Istaru: Im def not on the forums for likes by any means I like debate, and I like to get my point across its a forum I could make fluff post and get 100 likes but thats not why Im here. Im here to have serious discussion and to state my opinions and take constructive criticism on them as well. A forums isnt a place to really care about whether you are liked or not.

This whole issue.... confuses me. Coms don't mean shite. I got 3 coms when I fell off Titan-normal my first run of it because everyone thought it was hilarious. I rarely get coms for optimizing my rotations as a DPS, but I'll walk away with 2-3 for being a half-assed WHM in low level content. :/ I think you need to throw your commendation fixation out the window. Is it nice when we get them? Sure. For me at least, I don't see them often, and it's nice when someone notices that I did alright. For Tanks/healers? Pretty much you're the go-to for coms. Even average/below average players get them lol, so it's not a good measure of performance (and I can say this because I am the worse healer, but I still get at least one com every time I run as one LOL).

You also have to factor in the people who don't comm at the end of a run. There are people out there who will comm for the challenge log, then stop after that. Even then, comms go to tanks/healers the majority of the time.
