we don't know what ahead in the patch cycle for stormblood
As a Tank, I was really looking forward to the potential of a BLU tank. Hoping it will be coming in 5.0, though got 2-3 years AFTER Stormblood releases to wait for that.
I enjoy DRK enough though. Started off as PLD and was very glad when DRK was announced for HW.
I was relieved. I feel its necessary to cap every tank class. And this time the only contender for tank was SAM and I really don't care for the esthetic.
In general NO, because in 5.0 we will get only 2 jobs and will be TANK and HEALER, so we will see how people will have pain in ass.
Also i change my WHM to Astro and i'm happy to leave that crap job. now Yoshida can re balance Healers (whm) and tanks (palladin) to make them playable.
Also Samurai and RedMage if they don't give any composition bonuses they will like monk now - 100% useless class in hardcore gameplay, no one pay crap champions if they don't buff other member.
Main tank here (WAR primary, DRK secondary); I had no intentions of switching to a new tank if there was one (stay WAR/DRK). No intentions to level SAM or RDM until the hype dies down either.
So no, not disappointed at all.
Tanks and healers need some major rebalancing before new jobs are added; in comparison, the DPS jobs don't need as much (except maybe for MNK, but even then it might have been solved with just the level cap increase).
Much more looking forward to seeing the new balance between the tanks.
I main a tank but play everything.
Stating there's no new jobs is incorrect! I am looking forward to RDM and SAM.
Not stating there are no new jobs. There are no new jobs that fulfill the healing or tank role though. While I will likely level everything to 70, I usually stick with healers and with no new healing job to look forward to perhaps switching to, I feel disappointed. While I have been looking forward to RDM and SAM since 2.0, I know myself well enough that I will likely not stick with either and I've been looking to change jobs for a while now. =( I just don't like the others enough to switch and the new HW stuff actually made me like the ones I did swap to in 2.X less. ><;
While I dont know too much on RDM and SAM, I feel their general "aesthetic touch" was kinda needed for the DPS players.
BUT, I also think there should be at LEAST a tank OR healer with 1 added DPS per expansion (minimally), and then alternate the healer/tank the next time.
Part of me feel they will never add another tank/healer to the game, due to the massive mistakes they made in early development of the roles already, as these mistakes hinder the ability to make future tanks, AND they cant simply take them back, as they would actually need to nerf them to a good degree.
So its more so the feeling we wont get new tanks/healers, that makes me the most upset. (Plus no hope of jobs mid expansion, nor classes splitting into a tank/healer roel either)
I was at first but their reasoning made sense just a little bit. The tank jobs need balance and the healer jobs really need balancing. Plus I will be making some serious gil by selling my runs. 5.0 will be our new job.
I just hope that the fear of some tanks and healers moving to be permanent dps doesnt actually happen. I for example went from being a SMN main who partially played PLD for some roulettes went to being a DRK main in 3.0
The 20% of the population playing tank and 22% of the population playing healer hopefully doesnt go down under 20%
Yes and No. I know it's not realistic to expect 3 new jobs in every expansion. Because you have to fine tune so many jobs and each job also gets new skills in every expansion so in 5-6 years it will be a hell of a situation.
You can't just keep adding and adding new jobs like it's nothing. Remember older jobs also need to get new quests with new story lines and new skills.
Perhaps in 5.0 they will add only 2 jobs again and that time maybe it will be 1 healer and 1 tank. Who knows.
I'm disappointed that the features we get with this expansion are less than with Heavensward. Ok I understand the need to stop adding 3 jobs every time but what else we got this time?
Just fewer and fewer features. I don't count new areas and story as new features because it's the standard we had to to get. It's the bare minimum to make an expansion.
