I think FF13 was the first FF game where debuffs were worth their use in many scenarios.
Spells like Slep, Rub, Qake, Bane, Zap!, and XXXX.
Or Poison... It seemed like encounters weren't built around the party using these to stop the enemy. Versus a twofold spell like Virus that deals damage and quickly depletes life.
Um...X, XI, XII, XIII. I used debuffs like crazy in those games and they all worked wonders an were worth it. Actually now that i think about it...any game with Slow/Slowga in it, I used debuffs, because you can't beat those lol.
In no offline FF did I ever use any debuffs.

Anywho, besides the debuffs, what about buffs? Did we lose Shell or did I just misread the information? I remember reading about a spell like Stoneskin and a spell like Protect (or is it going to be flat out "Wall" spell and combine the two, if so that's lame :/ )
