Season 2 was closer to 3.5 months, not 3 months. Season 3 is only gonna be 5 months long if they wait until the absolute last day of March to end season 3.

Looking back at the start of season 3, the date coincides with the release of 3.45, so they'll likely start season 4 with the release of 3.55. Going with the assumption of 3.55 releasing mid-March (14th, perhaps), will mean that Season 3 will have ended up being close to 4.5 months, which is only 1 month longer than the previous season.
If this release date ends up being correct, that means Season 4 will likely end shortly before Stormblood, or right on the release of it, meaning that season will end up being 3 months (mid-March to mid-June)

Preseason and season 4 will certainly end before expansion.
