Patch 1.20 Delay ?

We are only approaching the "end of november/early december" and have already had 4 patch teasers.

To say that they can not fit everything else they are going to implement or change into the 3-week window starting next week sounds silly.

AH, Player Search, Food/Alchemy overhaul, Achievements, Moogle Primal fight announcements can easily fit into said window even if they only released less than one teaser a week.

At this point, I am assuming that the patch will be late by at most a few days, like 1.19.

It's highly possible, but I think that people have just come to expect the worse to avoid disappointment.

Btw, wasn't 1.19 meant to come by the "end of summer"? That would be September 23 at the latest, right? It came out October 4, which would mean it got delayed by eleven days.

IIRC we dont get patch notes till about a week before release. There are still 3 weeks left till we hit mid December.

I know that, I'm just point that out :p, in at anyrate.. They have 3 weeks like you said to say everything they need to say before patch date.. that s a lot of time.. people just impatient I guess.. :/.

Yep, that was the timeframe given in one of the letters from the producer from Spring.

You can see that since the patch got delayed by quite some time, it was probably a good move to not spill the 2.0 beans before the team had acquired some experience in working in the new kind of environment. Back in Spring they had no real experience on preparing a large scale patch like 1.18 or 1.19 so naturally they missed the mark even though the schedule only went up until the end of Summer.

1.18 was the worst patch in this regard as I think it was delayed by like a month, possibly longer (from the rough date Yoshida had given beforehand). 1.19 on the other hand came only few days later than the rough date given (by the end of September). That said 1.19 was a clear upgrade from the mess that was 1.18's schedule.

One would think that after 2 large scale patches and having worked on 2.0 and the old client simultaneously for many months they could provide more accurate dates for the patches from then on. Especially considering the improvement going from 1.18 to 1.19, as well as the fact that both class changes and job system have been worked on by the start of Summer.

All these factors make me pretty confident in them keeping their short-term schedule. When it comes to 2.0 they have given themselves more room as well (Sept.-Oct.). I think 1.23 will be the really tough one to get out in time.

Yep, because at that point of time, they are going full force on 2.0, and not much focused on 1.23. 1.23 is what July? 2 months later.. 2.0 PC Beta. So one would think by 1.23, or even each patch leading up to 2.0 will gradually get long in terms of delay, because they are inching closer to 2.0 =). 1.20-1.23= Side Course ( Appetizers) 2.0= Main Course meal nom nom nom <3 :D.

To be honest, patch 1.20 will be huge so i have no doubts that it was delayed. All their patches are pretty much always delayed.

You guys do realize this is the same thing that happened with 1.19 and 1.18, but both got released on time, right? >.>
