I believe it is a limitation on the current infrastructure to do the /ls1 /ls2 /ls3.
I think we would need to put continued emphasis on user interface expectations for 2.0. If we assume, we may be disappointed in 2.0 implementation.

I agree! What fundamental practicality rules seem to indicate here is that, regardless of your allegiance to a particular LS (your very own,) you might want to say a few things in other shells from time to time. 1) You don't want the displayed LS emblem to change, and 2) you don't want to equip another LS just to un-equip it three seconds later. The whole multiple-LS thing seems to point that obvious way...
The improved LS-swap shortcuts might be useful, but their addition is not the one thing the community has been clamoring for since, virtually, day one, regarding LS chat.
Unless you just want to say one sentence to your other LS, I don't see how the current plan is worse. I'd rather just type /l than /ls1 or even /l1 before every sentence. And even if it was just one sentence it won't be that hard to switch anymore.
Though it would still be nice to be able to do /ls1.
Actually lets go with both, but prioritize the /ls(n) chat shortcut. I can stand behind the /el (n) command because it would be a great complement to the /ls(n) shortcut, but the chat shortcut is what most people need/want the most. It should even be shortened further.
/l <text> Talk to current equipped ls
/l1 <text> Talk to ls #1
/l2 <text> Talk to ls #2
/l(n) <text> Talk to ls #n
/el (n) Equip linkshell n
Will we be able to use these commands while synthing and gathering?
This would be a major reason for wanting these commands for most players, I'm sure.
Sheesh.. when they finally answer our prayers.. you guys don't think its good enough... I'll never understand this community >.>
I'm pretty sure this is a system limitation, and it will likely be fixed for real in 2.0
Because thsi isn't what we were asking for.
We didn't say: "We would like an easier way to equip alternative LS, so we may communicate with other groups of people"
we said:
"We would like a way to communicate with alternative linkshells without having to change linkshells."
Our prayers were not answered.
will it be easier than it currently is? Yes
but wouldn't
/ls3 sorry guys i'm in a raid PT right now should be done in about 15
be easier than
/el3
/l sorry guys i'm in a raid PT right now should be done in about 15
/el1
I don't really post on forums, I mostly read but I thought I'd give my opinion on this.
I believe the thought of being able to freely chat between active and inactive linkshells opposes the idea of what the guild/ls system is built upon.
Each linkshell has it's own identity (name and shield etc), so why are people happy enough to forgo the pride of their ls so they can chat to whomever they want, whenever they want. In this case, it seems to me that people are merely wanting more chat channels (with possible custom channels).
I'm open to criticism on my opinion, but I firmly believe that people are looking for the wrong solution to the problem.
