what do you guys think about gender tabs, of course it being optional

Yeah I agree with you. From SE's track record of gendered glamours and emotes (Emotes? Really? My character's presumed vagina prohibits her from making the same DRG poses as the men do??) to the Eternal Bonding it's obvious they would never handle a gender-related feature well.

Because this is an MMO, one with a team and budget too small (for now) for the scope of the game. The community picks and chooses which issues are best for the current state of the game. I myself look at things from a game design perspective, and it's my natural instinct to look at resource management and wonder how it would be implemented. You are right that it would not take much time and effort, but it does take SOME time and effort, which is time and effort that could have been spent on other more important issues on this game. This is going to sound more harsh than I mean it to, but this proposed feature adds nothing to the game, and as I pointed out, only causes problems, so why waste the resources (no matter how minor)?

It isn't necessarily a bad thing exactly, but it's not a very relevant thing either. Why should anyone in game care what your gender is IRL? And why would you care whether they know it or not? It's like asking why we don't have a special feature in game to tell everyone what your real life hair color is.

As for pronouns, I'll generally address anyone in game with pronouns suiting the gender of their character. When role-playing, that would be the proper form to use anyway, and when not role-playing, it doesn't really matter. Either works. (I'm a woman in real life, and while I have alts of both genders, my main character is male, so when playing him it seems perfectly natural that I get referred to as "he".)

As for anyone hitting on you in-game, that doesn't have anything to do with your real-life gender either. It's your character, not your real-life self, that they're hitting on, so just treat it as role-playing. Decide how your character would react to them, and respond accordingly.

Honestly I don't care what people think of me. If I get to know them well enough they'll find out anyway. I've only ever had...one...I think? person guess my real gender before I told them and it was due to the way I type (which was actually very interesting... I'd like to read more studies on this)
Besides I play as male avatars in games like this since I really DON'T want people talking to me (yet people hit on Aeon a lot.....okaaaay). Of course like in all games my female characters get much more attention. I just want to overall be left alone, though.

If it's optional and as simple as adding a line of code (hint: it's not but let's pretend) then I'd be like, sure, go for it IDC. I wouldn't use it.

While I totally get most points , I just didnt think it such a hassle type idea, ha just simply people are here to play a game ha not to have someone try to get at your character hah
