Now we're complaining about the extra 2 seconds it takes to zone to an area?(reread the op) Yeah shame on SE for making cities so big, without first consulting players as to where we want things placed.

I meant I reread the post, sorry.
If you don't like the time it takes to zone somewhere? Only use the limsa boards and become a member of the flames. Only have to worry about the zoning delay going into the city. Tbh if this is such a big complaint for someone, I'd say there a bigger things going on.
travelling from 2 cities is also inconvenient and costs gil. everyone should be going to their apartments if gil is no concern at all.
i don't think anyone is implying this is a huge problem. they saw an issue and decided to post it. the devs are capable of making many small QoL changes, nothing wrong with bringing some to their attention no matter how big or small. just this patch we got
- cooldown timer reset (huge)
- reduce glamour prism clutter (totally unexpected)
- countdown (good but not huge, macros did the same thing)
it's not like because we got the first one, they never should've worked on the other two.
is there a retainer bell by that board? that always seemed substantially farther than Hawker's Alley, Leatherworkers Guild and Jewel Crozier in terms of distance to the Retainer and Board. adding distance to save the zoning is really not a huge benefit.
Yes, and two market boards a melding NPC and Company Chest. Anytime I need to go to the vendors in Uldah I hit the weaver guild and run for 5 seconds. The jeweled Crozier and Hawker's are closer for sure, but it's literally a matter of seconds from the weaver guild aetheryte shard to the market board & retainer bell, and a ton better than zoning to the Adventurers guild and then running for a few seconds and zoning again.
Leveling my gold smith these days, I totally agree with you.
I always did find it very strange that Ul'dah, the city-state obsessed with wealth, has the hardest to reach markets. Then again as others have pointed out it has the most conveniently placed GC headquarters and that was certainly done deliberately by SE. Still if I were to redesign the cities it would be:
Ul'dah - Easiest to reach markets. Hardest to reach GC HQ.
Gridania - Easiest to reach GC HQ. Hardest to reach markets.
Limsa - Balance of both (like current Gridania)
But then you have to run through Pearl Lane which is full of all the homeless people that smell like week old gym shorts <.<;
The request wasn't asking for Ul'dah's main aetherite to be moved next to the market, just for an aethernet shard to be placed there, so the better comparison would be how far is it to the nearest shard. Limsa's Aftcastle shard is right next to the GC headquarters. (Gridania is actually the furthest for that.)
All three have an aethernet shard near the GC HQ. Of those, for Ul'dah and Gridania it's the main aetherite.
Two of the three (Limsa and Gridania) have aethernet shards near the market area. In Limsa's case, one of them is the main aetherite. But Ul'dah doesn't have one at all, which is a bigger issue than whether it's the main one or a shard.
