From those i could track, I have done around 640 Fates during the first couple of weeks of the event. I think I won a psn trophy as well heh. Anyways, currently if I see a fate pop or near by, I just run as far away as possible.

I got the first mount but didn't bother to get any of the weapons, too much work for some glamour that I didn't even really like the look of.
Technically, yes - but for people who enjoy collecting mounts and minions to the point where that consumes a lot of their time and focus in-game? Not so much. I did it because I like collecting stuff - but it was very tedious and dull. The challenge could have come from something more engaging especially when the game already relies heavily on FATE's to artificially make certain items harder to acquire.

Post #2 has it right though. It was optional, entirely.
Now if you go about it that way, you should already know that collecting all mounts and minions is going to be an arduous, tedious, and expensive endeavor. If you had gone in and thought that you would get everything straight off the bat, that's not how it goes, at least not with MMO's.
That's true, but they would put more money into it than money they would get from it.
Bruh. I have everything at 60 and I grinded the 750+ fates to get the Whisper-go-go. I'm not complaining about this because it was my choice.
The Yokai producer wanted it to be difficult to obtain; instead, it was made extremely tedious but not difficult. But week one (even day one) everyone knew what the requirements were for unlocking and obtaining the hidden achievement mount. There was slightly over two months of time to do it. Obtaining it provides zero in game advantage, solely the satisfaction of getting that glowing mount.
What it boils down to is whether it's personally worth it or not. But saying the event killed the game is pretty much beside the point, as the event is not the game.
i just hope they don't plan on doing any "big events" again. not if what we get is long boring tedious grinds, which feel like the exact opposite of what an event should be.
It got me to try the games out as I was only familiar with the anime which I liked, I didn't end up doing all the Legendary weapons only did it for the Dark Knight Sword and the minions, they could have made the event 10x better but FATE grinding just seems like the easiest copout just put some rng drops in there for x event, let it go on for a few months and you're done.
