Your Stance on Cleric Stance

Playing the 3 healing jobs, when it comes to the hard content, ive noticed ive done more healing and waiting than switching to cleric. I'm just not good at stance dancing. Also i f!ck it up 30% of the time. I try to switch to add DoTs, but then i turn it off. I have nothing against cleric stance, im just not skilled enough to use it without screwing myself over.

The ability was implemented because healers have no way to increase the strength of their attacks via stats (because unlike other games, we have separate stats for healing potency and magic attack potency instead of one stat that affects both).

To me, priorities for healing design and gameplay should be: actual healing > removing debuffs > buffs = other utility = DPS. So no, I'm not happy with what Cleric Stance has done to healers. I do think an ability like it is needed (until SE can get around to somehow unifying MND and INT), but mostly for solo content like questing, FATEs and so on. If you're notably outgearing content, knock yourself out. Otherwise, healer gameplay should focus on, well, healing.

Dpsing + healing as healer is fine by me as long our focus/role is the still the later not the former, and we look badass at doing that so thats a plus.

My only hope is they change the cleric stance to off the global cd whetever you turn it on or off. Or just get rid of it comepletely but thats not going to happen i guess.

My priorities still the same though, boss fight / raid = almost no dps at all (unless its "normal" or low level newbie stuff that is)

There definitely isn't an argument against using Cleric Stance when people are safe. I consider it a requirement to actually be a good healer.

I enjoy using Cleric Stance, though I can understand why it gets so much hate by good and bad healers alike. I would prefer if Cleric Stance was something that couldn't be toggled off in combat but was less detrimental to healing (to keep the ease of soloing content) and give each healer more to do when healing isn't needed. Make their unique aspects shine more. Being a third (or fifth and sixth) DPS class in the party doesn't appeal to everyone.

That's probably why you are having trouble with it.

Cleric's Stance isn't something you turn on when you want to DPS.
It's something you turn off when you want to heal.

What I mean is that it's safer to be in clerics stance and to cancel it if you need to heal because there's no cooldown for canceling clerics than to be healing and activate it if you want to DPS because there's a 5 second cooldown when activating it.

If you are in the habit of activating it, applying a few DoTs, and then turning it off, that's actually more dangerous than just leaving it on since you'll be in the 5 sec cleric's cooldown more often.

SE should either remove it or find someway to severely limit it's use. I find it's more of a pointless distraction than anything else that only fosters poor play.

This. SCH will be the most boring healer if no cleric stance because you can just sit and let your fairy heal tank.

As many have mentioned already, Solo content as a healer would be really bothersome to go through without Cleric Stance.
Now onto being a healer for a party, it's not going to really kill you if you're not using it, however a good majority do expect a healer to utilize their cleric stance. You could do nothing and just stick to healing when someone takes damage if you really want to, but you won't be able to say that you're using your full potential as your class, that's considered bare minimum.

I think Cleric Stance is a wonderful thing to have overall. Stance dancing might seem tedious to some but when you really get into it, it's honestly not as bad as it might seem.

I never jumped in at the beginning of this debate, so whenever I do look at threads it's always very vague as to what the problem is. What is the topic on Cleric Stance? I do not see how it is a topic to really argue about. Is it about the way it is used?
