Limit Break bar become Trance Mode bar.
Steps :
- Trance Mode activated (click on the icon after it was filled at 100%)
- Some skills are improved (The enhanced skills shine)
- End the Trance Mode with Limit Break before the end of the timer (the energy bar drop continuously)
* Trance Mode and LB are activated with the same input or icon.
Mhm...it might break existing content (the reason they don't want individual LBs), but making it a new, extra feature for the next expansion - sure, why not?
You can just balance the new content around the feature, disable it in synced stuff and have a jolly good time.
I really loved the trance system in FFIX. Each character had a unique type too which made it even more fun. It would be cool to see healers have enhanced potency for spells or double casts! I don't want them to all be attacks but little things that add to the job type or role if they are too lazy. Let the party limit break be massive damage while trance be more of a supportive affect (maybe?). Overall I'm all for the idea!
The other issue is that the existing UI is struggling for resources as is, anything else being added would require that PS3 support be dropped and there is no official word as to when that will happen.
I wouldn't mind them replacing the team's limit break outside of 8-man parties with a personal one for all members, maybe even go with Trance mode for that...
Because there will always be idiots who will waste the party's LB, and not talking about the new players who might have not properly read that it's shared by the party...
The issue is, why add a gimmick that adds a handful of unique abilities to have? Truth is this already exist, can't you ninjutsu for 20 seconds after inputting the commands, Warrior has to build up charges to gain access to their abilities, SCH/SMN use Aetherflow to gain access to certain abilities.
A "Trance" system would just be adding a dull mechanic on top of all the jobs and just make them more similar to one another, which is something they don't want to do. It would make more sense to focus on making mechanics for each job to make them unique then to throw in a "buff button" to enhance the jobs current abilities.
Besides "trance" already exist with Summoner and should honestly stay unique to them, if you start to give it to other jobs then you just take away a mechanic that actually gave SMN more of a feel for channeling the Primal into themselves.
I think the way it would be implemented would be just a new ability with an extremely long cooldown like the 2 hour abilities (well, 1 hour now) from Final Fantasy XI. Make it the longest cooldown, but a very powerful ability/transformation that can be used say once every 10 minutes. Like our current 5 minute CDs but better and longer.
Like Monk could get 100 fists (reduce GCD time further and increase auto attack rate for a few seconds), Warrior can get Mighty Strikes (crits for the next X seconds), Black Mage could get Manafront (no MP use for a few seconds for all the flares), White Mage could get an AoE Benediction, Dragoon could jump multiple times (like Freya in IX), etc.
These abilities would likely have to be saved for DPS Checks and whatnot, and all would need to be properly balanced which would certainly be a pain (Monks/BLMs only cause they get best DPS boost! Who cares about LB!?). And it would probably be the last (or possibly only) ability we get in 4.0 (since people are complaining we have too many abilities already)
