Please consider: Apartments to those that don't own a house first.

I know that, just saying that, regarding education, they are differences that tend to make them more group focus (or society focus) even today than us, Westerners who are educated, again in general (yet there is exception of course) on a more personnal focus.
Again, some of us a good and well educated, some of them are bad and deserves a good spanking ^^", yet i've never had any problem with japaness players who i saw being nice, polite and helpfulf while i've been trolled several times by us Westerners with some thig like "boo stupid noob" "i'll *** your mother" and other....well....poetic language.

Don't trust me ? Come spend some time during the next event on Cerberus, i'm sure they will find a lot of poetic ideas regarding the idea of forming Qs to allow everyone to enjoy the content ^^" (or just come spend some time hunting S rank during "rush hours", you don't need to wait for event to see how it works ^^")

Not sure people want to wait, wich is understandable, new content, we all want to enjoy it. The thing is, they should imho, give priority on these to people who do not have a house, why ?
Because why is it so important to have an HLM (don't know the english equivalent, it's like those tiny flat where they put poor people preteding "it's ok to see through the walls and not have hot water" :/) if you already have a beautifull house ?
Give the "unlucky" the 1sts appartement, then when you open the new areas, give it to everyone ^^
(just so you know, i don't have a personnal house, just a FC house wich is enought for me and don't plan ATM on buying an appartement myself ^^")

One really simple thing they could do would fix housing pretty easily...

Make the game automatically generate new wards as they fill up. That way the pricing of the houses isn't artificially inflated through the roofs and the average player could actually get their hands on a house.

But I highly doubt they'll do that.

And these apartments kind of sound like a version of the FC Mansion Private Chambers... Except not tied to the existence of the FC and the Mansion and your membership... They won't serve all the points of housing, it'll mostly just be a customizable room.
Almost a case of "Might as well hang around in the Inns for free."

They effectively did, (and permanently rather than just the first week as Deceptus suggested). The last plot addition was regular plots, and there's already a rule that you can't have more than one. With the coming of apartments, the rule is being expanded to where you can have both a personal house and a personal apartment, so people with a home already are eligible to buy another (albeit smaller) one. (I don't actually know why you'd want both, though.)

I see nothing wrong in letting people without a house get first dibs.

If I was on a larger server I wouldn't even bother buying an apartment since I have a house. As I am not I fully intend to get one since I'm pretty sure they're adding more apartments than my servers population :(

Because not everyone has a mansion to stash all their trophies in, and even those with a mansion might need a space to put more trophies in. And I highly doubt the apartments have as much space as a mansion. At beast they might be 2/3's bigger than FC rooms.

Also the apartments not be subject to auto demolition makes them desirable because people have a tendency not to lose their hard earned trophies.

This is one of those avenues where the community is basically going to have to morality check itself:

Do you have an estate? If yes, do you need an apartment?

Let me be open and blunt in saying I own a small house, and I fully intend to get an apartment. Why? Well, I chose Goblet, almost none of my friends live there. I inherited an FC/mansion in Lavender Beds; not where I'd have chosen to be but I'm grateful anyways. And most importantly, depending on how the apartments pan out, I'm actually willing to give up my small house, not that I need to, as several wards on my small/shrinking server still have lots of space available.

I fully understand what we can be like but as someone who works with actual Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Thai students (I work for UAL university of arts london where every year students from Asia come and take short courses in English language and culture) They can be just as rude and impolite (especially the rich ones, jesus) as us. Stop putting them above everyone else whilst devaluing your own culture just because of the few supposedly Japanese players you met over the internet. Speak to actual Japanese people in real life to understand what it's really like.

Agreed not to mention the culture is extremely xenophobic and kinda racist.

On topic though I just bought and furnished my own FC rooom and was fully intending to buy an apartment before I did, now I feel no need to. Would be great if they did implement some measures so people who needed it got them first but I don't see it happening unfortunatly.

I fully intend to get an apartment too. Mainly, I just have no idea what can happen in the future and the apartment being not subject to auto-demolition is very attractive to me. I have a private cottage in LB, so I'd like to get an apartment in my ward.

I'm on Famfrit, so I don't anticipate that these will fill up very quickly (it took weeks for the new wards from 3.3 to fill).

You just never know when you're going to fall on hard times and have to cancel your sub. You never know if, during time away, you could get kicked out of your FC for reasons more than just inactivity (for example, FC-selling and the new owner does a member purge).

The desire for permanency is too hard to ignore.

And lastly, I just really love decorating ^.^

I actually lost my old FC room in much the same way.

I told them I was gonna need to be off for a few months. Come back to having lost about 2 mil worth of furniture since they booted me.

I have an FC room again, but that apartment looks so enticing... Too bad I'm broke.
