Third Job Speculation and Theories

Green mage, dancer, bishop, viking, medic, synergist, flayer, mime, gambler.

This might be "cheating" in a way but as for beastmaster, would people complain if the pet was literally an extension of the character rather than being separate like the Egis? Being that as you move, your pet moves with you and your skills are nothing more than a command or motion of the character with the pet doing the actual commands and attacks? Equipped "weapon" could be leashes or chains that connect from the players hand to the pet.

I need dancer in my life, so I'm hoping and praying we get dancer T_T

all i know is monk has a chinese sort of theme to its attire, as for ala migho itself, what like alot of highlanders, and chinese themed monks, so what other jobs could come from there and gyr abania(my most educated guess will be the city we start off as the main new hub place ala migho being the idyllshire/mor dhona of 4.0 )? I mean you could go oracle/mystic, bluemage, redmage being a stretch unless its more of a westerny thing of gyr abania(also make the most sense if its to culminate elemental and thaumaturgy) chemist could work, dancer could also work...i think samurai are from doma and the near east..

If they are releasing Red Mage in 4.0, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a tank. Tank is still lowest in numbers, and Red Mage would surely raise it even higher.

Samurai is a shoe-in for dps.

And I'm hoping for Dancer as a healer. I personally can't wait to play a dancer while also seeing others jump on it and be horrible at healer xD

I kind of want Time Mage... Most classes would benefit from a Haste buff, and it wouldn't hurt if you could have a slow debuff (one that would bypass boss immunities, just so it could be actually used...)

Maybe using Dark elemental spells like one certain Time Mage fought during the Main Story as attack spells, with a side of Gravity and Meteor based spells...



Also, for Beastmaster... I wonder if it could be possible to do it so that you have a few different pets, you only keep one with you that could only be changed in certain locations, and your abilities change based on which one you have with you, maybe even to the extent of changing roles.

I feel like such an odd ball for wanting DNC to be DPS. Been playing a lot of Dragon Quest Heroes and personally would love to see DNC be more like Maya; each dance brings more destruction or charms the enemy.

Going off lore, my top 3 picks are

Beastmaster, Red Mage, Samurai for 4.0

All 3 have high lore in the game, more when any other job not out right now.

But for what I know, RDM will not be a full Red Mage. Last year they talked about how if add it may make fan of the job upset or sad. I can see why, after all red Mage is a jakes of all jobs, DPS, healer, suppoer, Harvey in all 3. And with the way the game works you can't have a job like that, it need to fit some where.

I can see RDM being the 1st Malee DPS healer in the game
Samurai going DPS or tank
Beastmaster the 1st Pet Tank job, or just a plan odd DPS.. ( I'm more for tank )

We had beastmasters in version 1 too. Even Urianger, upon your first encounter with him, used beasts to fight in his stead. There were others as well but who, where or when they were encountered I cannot say off the top of my head.

Dancer I have wanted since I saw the Ul'dah opening cutscene in version 1 as well. I really thought they were showing off a future dnc job in that cs.

That would be so sad and such a waste. We need a good battle mage and historically in the FF series RDM and BLU fit that bill (outside xi, but rdm wasn't intended to be a healer it just ended up that way do to refresh mostly and a lack of decent melee or caster-melee gear)

My dream is Geomancer, but I severely doubt that's happening.

My guesses for jobs are:

2 new jobs -> RDM + BLU
3 new jobs -> RDM + BLU + SAM

I would love to be wrong and for them to throw DNC in place of something, but I just think those jobs are more likely. I guess we'll see though, BLU might be too complicated for them and they might choose to stick to something simpler like DNC.
