Haha, wow. This is one of the most heartless posts I've seen. Like, how and who are you to judge what "timely manner" is given the situation that they had removed the auto-demolition of housing in the first place?

Demolition of abandoned homes is not, and never was a viable solution to the housing shortage.
However it IS still a good and necessary thing. The vast majority of players will leave the game eventually. The homes they leave behind are empty and dead, and that means the eventually whole neighborhoods will be empty and dead. These dead homes should be cleared away, so that the housing districts can remain alive and active, filled with individuals who are actually currently playing the game.
The housing district should be filled with homes, not tombs. Setting an expiration on them solves that problem. You want a home? Play the game. Don't expect us to maintain your mausoleum for you in the off-chance that someday you might maybe decide to return to the game.
I would argue, though, that the current requirement that you actually enter your home periodically is silly. Having a paid subscription should be enough to maintain your home. That way, folks who are forced to spend long absences from the game (such as military deployment, or serious injury or illness) can keep their home from being demolished simply by continuing to pay their subscription.
The person you quoted stipulated that alts should share the account limited house as part of the limits...
Yeah, it's a bad situation for all involved.
But, it does set a precedent.
And I can see possible problems in the future if SE doesn't turn off demolitions for every single disaster that befalls every region they service...
People will claim favouritism...
I wouldn't want to be in that situation. :/
I looked into the situation a bit more....it's a series of free companies with 1-3 members, all bearing the same short name. I checked out about 10 of the houses and all but one were bare with the exception of npcs and a free company chest right in front of the entrance. I don't know how this can be combated, and technically these guys are doing nothing wrong and are within ToS. I could say more, but without a workable solution it would just come across as whining for no reason. lol. Hopefully someone a little closer to the issue can come up with a workable system that more of us can enjoy.
