Preparing for 4.0

I thought about doing some of those things. But the wait has been so long I've actually switched games to ESO while waiting for 3.4 and 4.0
Getting close to cancelling my sub until these patches come around, and to be quite honest 3.4 better really have an engaging story and content to keep me entertained, otherwise i'll just wait for 4.0

And usually i am someone that can find reasons to play long past where other people have taken time off. Started playing June 2015

So...yeah i've been quite bored lately to make me switch

Capping all kinds of currency, stockpiling materia, and doing beast tribes again to get unidentifieds and grade IVs because who knows.

This game is a little more fickle than normal games with its market, due to it following a similar resource requirement path that XI had with reusing old materials. Generally speaking though, you're well off stocking up on things we know are consumed and RNG dependent. Those being, obviously, crafting/gathering materia and shards/crystals/clusters (probably wind being the most expensive).

Honestly though, despite that, your profits are likely to be marginal compared to any new goods introduced through gathering and crafting. For any hoarders out there, like myself, we tend to have a supply of most commonly used goods or rarer stashed across multiple retainers, so it's business as usual. In other words, not much change in preparation.

It is not really worthwhile trying to stockpile anything for an expansion - just about everything you need in the expansion's content will be provided by the expansion.

That said, get all jobs to 60, and get as many jobs as possible in Scripture gear. That, of course, will depend upon SE uncapping Scriptures and the upgrade items. I've already got my crafting and gathering classes at i190, so they are set. Just need to take the last 3 jobs to 60 and then get them all geared up.

Either this thread is about 10 months early, or the OP meant to title it for Patch 3.4.
Assuming no human error, the only few things I can think of worth doing to prep for 4.0 is getting a small stock of +3% xp foods (super easy, check NPCs) and
grabbing several of those fancy Engineering and Survival Manuals ahead of time to shave the edge off of leveling. Having Leves pre-completed, and stocking up on collectibles to turn in will probably be a waste, if handled the same way HW was, the exp reward for those will be DRASTICALLY nerfed as soon as the level cap is raised. Nerfed only for level 60+ that is.

Absolutely nothing, honestly gotten to the point I log in and kinda stare at the screen before I just log back off. Gonna wait till the 4.0 expansion (or at least more info on what exactly is coming) before I resub and catch up.

I enjoyed reading this thread to see it's a mix of people sharing their 3.4 and 4.0 wishes both.... lol

Well as far as what to save for 3.4... It's so hard to say! I mean, if you want my humble opinion... I'd say don't throw away your old alex gear and/or tokens... You might be desynthing them soon for rare mats (That's what happened during the final crafting recipe patch of coil days). If you don't desynth, you might want to level it? However, is SE really going to do this exactly to formula? We already saw them switch it up with different things already (favor mats for instance). I really REALLY don't think we will see a return of the favor mats. I hope we don't at least.

I know everyone heard the dev team say the last recipe patch was supposed to be a catch up patch for everyone to get their crafted battle gear and etc... But all I can think about is so was the similarly timed patch during 2.0. I wouldn't doubt that the final patch is meant to keep us a bit busy as we probably aren't seeing any other major content patches before 4.0 (just please...no more gathering favors...pls!). I mean, I hope we see a few patches, maybe a new primal but nothing too crazy I'd think. They are already working on 4.0 after all (I read they are already doing the voice acting). Oh we get another 24man tower ...maybe before 4.0 besides the last part of alex?
