didn't we already have a dragon quest event?

I'm sorry that it came across that way, but you aren't the first thread on this topic. Yo-kai watch seems to have opened the floodgates for so many unreasonable requests on the forums, from tonally inappropriate, to inaccessible IP crossovers. People seem to think that SE just chose yo-kai watch for no reason, and that we can just get any crossover event now (the moonfire faire didn't help this mentality, it's a japanese cultural thing, not a power rangers crossover). The reason that this crossover happened is that Yoshi P is very good friends with Akihiro Hino, the CEO of level 5 and this event came about during an informal chat over drinks (I think Hino joked that Yoshi P was drunk when he agreed), and something like that will never happen with any other game franchise. We may possibly get more level 5 IP crossovers (Ninokuni, layton, dark cloud), but we will never get a Pokemon, Digimon, or really any other IP, unless they approach SE for the deal.
WoW popularized the Tab target MMO genre. XIV is a Tab target MMO so naturally contained a lot of the same elements, its like saying RTS games ripped off each other, and can't exist in the same space. If anything it's FFXI and other FF games that give XIV an identity crisis with constant references (warring triad, matoya, ultima weapon etc.) and mechanics "inspired" by XI (hunts, deep dungeon etc.)
It's the Super Smash Bros mentality. Suddenly an IP that's not owned by the company is allowed to play in the same game, and people make all kinds of ludicrous suggestions for additions without regard to how circumstantial these cross-overs actually are.
I'd actually love having an Alolan Exeggutor hat and/or mount/minion but won't ever happen
If Yoshi P is friends with __ developers then it'll have a chance of a cross over event, it seems like
